    Recipe feedback NEipa

There hasn’t been any tests done on the impact of protein and polyphenol reactions in regards to finings agents. So it is a personal preference not to bother.

    Recipe feedback NEipa

Personally I would do a 30 min boil with no hop additions, don’t add any whirlfloc or finings. Then do a big hop stand 100-150g. I would also use lalbrew “New England” instead of west coast. You can add some hops for bio transformation but not every hop is created equal for this. Then you can...

    Sweet taste? Help!!!

Hey Mark. If I mashed for 10hrs @ 65 while I was at work. Would this explain why my beer finished at 1.004 (OG 1.051) when Brewfather calculated it at 1.012. Because the longer chains got broken down so much from a long mash?

    Grainfather pump stopping

Never had a problem with the pump over heating but I have over heated the control box and melted it. I use the Grainfather jacket when brewing and have to mount the controller away from the body otherwise it threatens to do it again. It may not help at all but pull the pump apart and give it a...

    Help with Water

May not be your problem but when I was bottling I used to sometimes get a metallic flavour from the lids on older bottles.

    Traffic

Last time I asked a genuine question coming from a mechanical point of view and trying to appeal to the DIY home brewer, I got directed to a YouTube video that had nothing to do with my question and told to grow plants in it. Now if I have a question I go looking for the answer instead.

    Fermzilla

Here is a video to start with, then check out all his other ones on the Fermzilla. Other than that read the user manual and don’t be silly just because it says it rated to 35psi there is no need to ferment at that pressure.

    First bugger up

Yes you can but use some fine mesh bag to put them in otherwise going commando can cause clogging. Also if you are going to drink the beer slowly you may want to suspend them in the keg so they are not in contact with the beer for extended periods of time.

    Frustrated with end results

You could try adding hops to the keg.

    Mistakes we have made

Only a few brews back I mashed in on the Grainfather and went to put the top malt plate on to realise that the overflow pipe wasn’t there. First thought was i didn’t extend it but on closer inspection I hadn’t even put the grain basket in. Had to pick the whole thing up and pour it into a...

It looks like brew tools will be releasing a fermenter near the end of the year with the ability to purge dry hops and a rating of 2 bar.

Does anyone in oz have one of these? If so where/how did you get it??

What I do to dry hop is. Let the pressure out. Close the valve. Remove the collection bottle. Clean bottle and the bottom of the valve. Add hops. Re-attach. Flush with c02. Pressurises the collection bottle to about 15psi. Then open the valve as fast as you can. In terms of filling bottles from...
