    Eucalyptus Pale Ale

hi haven't posted in yonks computer died ...forgot password etc. anyway ..ages ago I tried a rosemary beer. I used only a couple of sprigs of fresh rosemary in the end of the boil. It was undrinkable. way way to over powering. I'm thinking eucalyptus would be a similar scenario. good luck.

Feedback wanted on my first brew

I reckon if you stick to the basics you'll always end up with good drinkable beers. 1) Sterilize everything 2) good mill of the grain - I had a few issues when it wasn't milled fine enough. 3) strike temp within a few degrees of what recipe calls for will usually work fine. 4) ferment temps -...

Can Whirlfloc go off / impart off flavours?

don't use the whirlfloc. I have forgotten to use it, and to be honest I couldn't tell the difference in the end. That will discount that theory one way or the other.

    Mice in grain

About to make My first attempt at hopping

I have dry hopped with saaz once ..never again. It tasted like grass. A mate had the same result. so don't do it I reckon. I read somewhere the head brewer from little creature said to stick with hops that start with "C" when dry hopping. That was obviously for Pale ales though. In saying...

    Increasing BIAB efficiency.

I had good efficiency with crushed grain from the home brew shop ...then got my own monster mill and it went to crap. I readjusted the rollers and double crushed my grain to get it to almost to flour and all is good again. Also.. make sure there is no dough balls and clumps during mash in.

    Pineapple beer/cider

It definitely tastes like pineapple. Almost a wine taste. ( I am not a fan of wine ) It is about 8% alc maybe a bit more...I get the feeling I kegged it a bit early. There was not really a krausen ...just slow bubbling. I did take a few hydro measurements - After about 8 days It went from 3% to...

Hop Trellis Design - Advice requested

From my limited experience ( this year ) the lines that go side ways don't seem to work anywhere near as well as straight up ones. I went to potters brewery in the hunter and they had hops vines growing up the side of the tennis court fence - they didn't seem to have a problem. Also I have...

    Trub in the fermenter

depending on the type of yeast - US-05 gets used up pretty quickly. approx. 4 weeks. I have used some that was 6 months old and it still worked. I have re -used different types of white labs pils and Kolsch. all were at least 4 weeks old. The older it is the more you need going by Mr Malty...

    Trub in the fermenter

I do all grain BIAB and once it has finished boiling and cooling I just pour the lot into the fermenter. Add the water, yeast and ferment. I have left out the (cold break -thicker gunk) after it has cooled on a few occasions and to be honest I couldn't tell the difference at the end. as for...
