    Mallokup Malt

I brewed with their ale malt today. It behaved differently to other malts I’ve used. The grains were nice and plump and left very little flour behind on the mill compared to other brands. The mash seemed to convert very quickly. 15 minutes into a 62 degree rest and it was running crystal clear...

    New strains from Fermentis

I haven’t looked yet, but I did notice that the Fermentis site showed 11g sachets as well as 500g bricks, so we should be seeing them soon.

    New strains from Fermentis

It looks like Fermentis released a few new strains of dry yeast late last year. Has anyone tried them? W-68 - Looks like it could be the dry equivalent of 3068. BW-20 - Belgian wit yeast. E-30 - I honestly don’t know what to make of this one. A lager strain with banana esters?!?! BR-8 - Dry...

    King Keg

I’ve got a WW Brewkeg and I really like it. They’re pricey, but I patiently waited for a good discount to appear before buying mine. If anyone has any questions, PM me so as not to derail this thread.

    Brewtools Miniuni

I love the idea of the Miniuni, but I’m disappointed with the execution. It could have been the ultimate blank canvas - a stainless conical with top and bottom TC ports which you could use for any of the dozens of attachments available, not just from Brewtools, but from KK, KL, Blichman, etc...

    EOI 140 kPa / 10 Psi Gauges

I think you’ve applied the units to the wrong scales. It looks like 140 psi and 1000 kPa.

    King Keg

Thanks. None of my attempts to imitate casks with standard kegs have really worked.

Do you have a link for replacement bags and a photo of your dispensing set up for these?

    KegLand Questions and Answers

For push fittings, I give the tip a couple of turns in a pencil sharpener. It’s just enough to give the tip a slight taper and it makes it much easier to push past the seals to full depth.

    Brewtools Miniuni

At which point it becomes a not-so-budget option. I like the concept, but I wish I could like it more.

    Brewtools Miniuni

https://www.brewtools.com/products/fermenters/miniuni Another player in the budget stainless unitank field. I like the minimalism as most stainless uni tanks have more ports and valves than I’ll ever use, which inevitably adds to the cost. I’m not sure about the very shallow bottom cone. It...

White Labs is now selling dried yeast.

Two more strains to be released soon. I’m really hoping that one of them is their WLP002. If they’re producing dry and liquid versions of exactly the same strains, it would be really interesting to see side by side experiments.

    Huh?

The forum was aussiecraftbrewing. I’m going to stick my neck out and assume that mentioning a forum which no longer exists doesn’t warrant a ban. It had a very relaxed and welcoming vibe as well as some very knowledgeable brewers who used to post here many years ago and it’s a shame that it folded.

    KegLand Questions and Answers

I’m trying the flow control disconnect for the first time and I can see the beer foaming in the line between the disconnect and the tap. This happens regardless of the flow speed. Any thoughts on what might be happening? I’m using about 50cm of 5mm ID line.

    KegLand Questions and Answers

Can the flow control disconnects be wound all the way to “off”? I’m wondering if the disconnect plus a short length of hose could be used as a simple growler filler or if I would still need a tap in between.
