    tripel karmeliert ( belguim trappist ale) 8% and i reckon nicer than the chimay`s i`ve had , but that said i had this one only, chilled ...mmmm friuty complex ...rich ( may have had the others to cold :unsure: ) DAB german lager . very drinkable ....mild .... :) :chug: :chug: :chug: simon

    thanks for the info on the wheats , i shall try a few more , but i remember havin wheat beers years ago , and they didnt taste like that ...hmmm ...redback before it was taken over , but i understand its not really a wheat , maybe thats the prob anyway back to testing :lol: :chug: :chug...

    my hbs guy ( colin marshal B.Y.O.A.H.) reckons keep all yeasts refridgerated as a precaution to protect them and you will never get a dud result , lots of dud results from non refridged and unknown age kit yeasts apparently ;) :chug:

    holsten premium , german beer nice crisp lager style with good bite , similar to j.boags draught ( on tap in tassie) :D ( maybe not quite as bitter) very nice totally recommend this one :chug:

    one more thing , i have heard that dry yeasts are not as good for making starters , liquids are , is this true , and if so ...why? sorry for all the dumb questions :( simon

    i have used idophor , and i think as long as you use the recommended dosage , it is harmless , dont even have to rinse it , am able to pour the beer staight in on top of it , just leave it for 15 - 20 mins ., jobs done no bad tastes , no probs this has been my experiance anyway :) simon
