    Nick's Brewhouse - BIAB Edition

Well, I'm midway through my mash, about 25 mins left for the blonde. I've had to reheat three times so far to keep the temperature at 66 degrees, it's getting down to about 61-62 degrees when I get up and heat it up again so I'm starting to think I really need to add some insulation to my next...

    Nick's Brewhouse - BIAB Edition

Thanks for the suggestions Matplat Re. the Blonde, I'm using the BIAB beer designer v1.3 which is super useful My hop schedule is now: Northern Brewer 7g @ 60 mins Galaxy 7g @ 10 mins This should avoid the funky taste you suggested. Actually, I reckon that's what made one of my beers a while...

    Nick's Brewhouse - BIAB Edition

Hey there folks, I've been brewing my own beer for some time now; Kit only, kits & bits, kits with steeped grains, kits with mini mash, full boil extract brews and extract boils with kits added. I have always kind of feared the full batch, all grain lifestyle choice. It always seemed in my head...

    Nick's Brewhouse

Well, in a moment of madness, (or clarity) I visited the LHBS again last night B) Have been looking at my 20L Big W pot and thinking to myself "now that I'm getting back on the homebrewing wagon, why not throw myself right in the deep end after making up my last brew" Long story short, once...

    Nick's Brewhouse

Well, I was at my LHBS yesterday afternoon, I know the owner very well (took her away to Queensland on a work trip with her and her husband) and we were just shooting the sh!t for a bit about future, past and present brews when I noticed on the specials rack a pouch of DIY white wine. She tells...

    Nick's Brewhouse

Ah, damn I have left it on the base of the fridge, hopefully it's ok until I get home. I don't envisage the temp getting down below 18 degrees today though as the first beer in the fridge is now in and overnight it never went below 18 degrees with an active ferment. I have it nicely spread out...

    Nick's Brewhouse

Well, the InkBird came in and aside from the fact I haven't had time to do a brew yet (damn schedule with soccer, work and such) but have had the controller plugged into the fridge for the last month, it seems to be working well. The last couple of weeks, the weather overnight here in Mildura...

Ended up purchasing the Inkbird Plug and Play ITC-308S for $50 delivered, should be here by the weekend or Monday more likely (knowing AusPost and their prompt service) so all going well I'll be putting a brew down this weekend or next. Already have all the goods to put together a nice extract...

    Nick's Brewhouse

Hey there folks I'm back, moved house a couple of times and it wasn't appropriate to brew in any of the previous ones I moved to due to rental agreements, etc and constant hassles by landlords. Have a new landlord now who's chill as and I now also have a fridge (have moved to Mildura which is...

Absolutely not but was wondering mostly what harm may have come by it sitting on the yeast for over a month

    Nick's Brewhouse

Hey folks Been away for the last couple of weeks and a bit out of action on the brewing front. have accidentally left the Real IPA on the yeast for that long, wondering whether it's all lost or should it be fine? it's been sitting for a bit over a month and I'm not sure whether to tip it or...

2016 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

I'd like to know the answer to this as I have a couple about to reach the end of their respective strings and wanted to know if I should extend the strings (which is possible) or leave them be

2016 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

Cuttings starting to take off. Victoria growing strongly but not sure if she's going to make many cones as the close ups show there's no real burrs happening or is this the beginning?

    Who has a Bandsaw?

yeah a jigsaw should do you just fine. although both options depend on your ability to hold and follow a line. My suggestion, if you go jigsaw is go as fine a tooth as will cut the timber as it'll give you more precision with following the line you mark, big aggressive teeth will walk on you

How To Unblock My New Stainless Steel Air Stone

Being stainless steel, you could always try my proven method for unblocking all manner of stainless steel filters: Get a jet lighter/torch (butane preferrable but propane will work too) Heat up until it glows then blow compressed air/CO2 through it Blockage solved this works for everything...
