    Only One Keg Foaming Heaps...

Wow what a wanker, all I was suggesting was to try other options other that the keg was over carbed. As good as I am I never suggested I could change the laws of physics just that a loose post would cause foaming. With the symptom being bubbles around the post. Maybe Poorly worded by me but...

    Only One Keg Foaming Heaps...

Just as an afterthought I had a keg I thought was over carbed and could not work out how to fix it. It turned out after some trial and error that when I opened the tap the beer out post sucked air in and nothing but bubbles out the other side. So I guess it ain't always over carbed, more than...

Dedicated Herms Guide, Problems And Solution Thread

Yep that's what I thought I had it flowing flat out, 815 march pump and was getting a bit of a whirlpool in the tun! Will slow the rate next brew. I've got about 9m of copper coiled in there. I was not unhappy with the ramp time but I thought that maybe with the flow my mash would get sucked...

Dedicated Herms Guide, Problems And Solution Thread

So did my first brew today with my new HERMS rig. Don't have much to add to the current discussion but I will say I did not bother with a thermo in my mash tun just using a probe at the outlet of the HX. I will say that today there was very little difference between the probe and the portable...

    The Whirlpool

Thanks Fergi, I have done the stir in the past but now I have a pump I was hoping for a better effect. My plan is to pump the entire time from flame out to draining to the fermenter, including the removal of the immersion chiller.

    The Whirlpool

Thanks Razz just had a look and most of the info was there that I was after. I remember reading the thread a while ago now I have looked again. So by my understanding if I'm doing a 26 L boil the inlet should be almost at the hi tide mark and facing slightly upwards? Any pictures out there of...

    The Whirlpool

Just after some advice on the placement of my wert return inlet to the kettle 70L from craftbrewer. My plan is to do mainly single batches with an immersion chiller pumping the cooling wert to increase convention. My initial thoughts are 2/3 of the way up the kettle with the outlet tube facing...

Thanks that is what I thought sounded right for the pipe. I guess the tempmate will need to have the set points just right to minimise cycling. I think the larger HX will help with this, thermal mass ect. I know that a pid ssr heat sink would be the ideal solution. But I have just finished...

Dedicated Herms Guide, Problems And Solution Thread

Hi all just back into brewing after a bit of a hiatus and need some advice on the HERMS I am trying to get off the ground. My HX is going to be a 20l Birko urn with copper pipe inside, I have a 18m roll. I plan to fill the urn to about the 18l mark will 9m be enough pipe? The more pipe I assume...

    Carbonation

Once the saturation point is reached that is it, but if you have your reg sitting @ 32 psi saturation I would guess it would be over carbonated. Time is your friend when it comes to carbonating. To get your system right you need to know what your reg pressure is for serving (should be the same...

    Carbonation

Mate as you are aware Co2 absorbsion increases with the lowering of temp, in order to carbonate you need to ensure that the temp is stable and you use a relaiable method, set reg pressure over time, force carb or prime with fermentables. I leave mine in a fridge for a week at 90kpa or force carb...

    Enoggera Qld Water

I agree, I use a large tea spoon of brewing salt (I think that is what it is called) and get just above 5.2 with my water, but I am further north and I think we are on north pine dam? Shawn.

    Enoggera Qld Water

I know that Mel is after a new mill for the shop, I crush my grain at home and get better efficency than from the store, not having a crack (pun intended) at Mel (moonshadow on here) but I think there may need to be a mill upgrade at her store. I am just putting it out there that the crush may...

Passion Fruit / Passiona Taste Hop?

If you after a passionfruit flavour just use some passionfruit pulp. That is what gives me the best passionfruit flavour. Shawn
