The Mrs wants a good ginger and apple cider

I haven't done Ginger and Apple cider, but did do a Ginger beer. As I see it, your 3 easiest options are: ferment apple juice (as per above) and add some ginger buy an apple cider kit and add some ginger Use a ginger beer kit and add some other stuff so it is more interesting (or supplement...

DIY Dog - recipes for every brewdog beer ever made

Just me, or when you plug some of these recipes into BeerSmith, do the OG's in the software not match the recipes (or come close)?

    Belgian Dark Strong Ale

Longer than I'd thought actually. Bottled end of June. Dark as it is though i'm expecting it will only improve for some time to come.

    Belgian Dark Strong Ale

I gave it a go with 2 packs of safbrew T58 for the yeast. Not bad, but a bit young in the bottle still to give a real good impression probably. If adding Candi I would just add in addition myself. If you were to remove something, I would substitute it for the dextrose. There are people with...

    Nick's Brewhouse

I've recently started using champagne bottles, and I am loving them. Great for putting down beers to age for a significant period too. Tirage bell and caps aren't all that pricey.

    website deals of the day

Interesting. My local store only just started stocking home brew supplies again, and with a better range than last time (many years ago).

    Who Uses a Hop Sock/Bag

How many grams of hops do you reckon would fit in each mate? They look pretty useful.

Contract Brewing - Anyone Done It?

Pretty much same boat here. 23 and finishing a double degree end of next year. Actively considering ignoring those to go to some formal brewing education. Haven't even been brewing long. The idea just seems so appealing.

    Asahi buys Mountain Goat Beer

Totally see your point here, but there is a fair difference between a guaranteed multi-million dollar payout (and at least for now, keeping your job in some capacity) vs. having to fork out the cash to takeover another brewer. It would then have to be incorporated into your portfolio, with all...

    Asahi buys Mountain Goat Beer

Exactly. Don't like seeing it, but understandable. Imagine they could always start a new brewery down the track.

    All Australian Koala Scat Saison

I had the idea to try a brew with wattle seeds or other ingredients i could scavenge locally about a month ago. No way i would have had scat on that list. Very interested to see where this goes.

    Is my kettle too big?

I have a 3 ring burner with adjustable regulator I imagine between the regulator and ability to turn off rings I could get a reasonable degree of control?

    Is my kettle too big?

The dimensions of the pot are 48cm diameter x 45cm high. Can tell from my previous guesstimate that I had not taken a proper look at it. Double batches are certainly an option, I just worry about evap. and other issues with singles. I have a weldless valve and thermowell thermometer sitting...

    Using tea in beer

I used store bought lipton peppermint tea bags in my latest brew as a small experiment. I added them like a 10min hop addition into a choc mint stout. Unfortunately I only bottled yesterday, so can't personally say as yet how good or bad the technique may be.

    Is my kettle too big?

Never heard the floating foil dish idea before. That is certainly interesting. No idea off the top of my head on the pot diameter, but my guess is 75cm or so. MIght check that tomorrow. Regardless, it seemed very wide from a glance. As for double batches, certainly an option, but not sure if I...

    Is my kettle too big?

Hi guys, never thought I would be asking this question, but is my kettle too big? I was given (fairly cheaply) a 82L stainless steel pot, one of those Chinese jobs with relatively thin sides. Anyway, I am currently only doing extract (in a smaller pot) and am quite new to brewing still. I have...

    Best Pubs in Europe

Brussels - i agree on all those mentioned. One that is easy (and and attracts lots of locals and tourists alike) is Delirium Cafe. Has just about every beer under the sun and plenty of taps. Very knowledgable staff too. Does get very busy. Prague - IMO worth a trip up to St. Norberts near the...
