    Yeah it's a little over that by my calcs (4.1 including max temp of brew). I only bottled yesterday so I could grab a few more PET's and dump the glass bottled beer in there. Or just keep them cold when they've reached an acceptable level of carbonation. I guess I'm just trying to figure out...

    Out of date kits

    Just did my first brew with some out-of-date ingredients. Undrinkable. I haven't yet worked up the courage to pour it all away and get the bottles back, too emotional. (at least I think it was undrinkable because of the ingredients. A bad workman blames his tools and all that...)

    Yeah I'm rapidly getting to that point too I think. Santa also gave me an Irish stout kit with the generic yeast but I think I might sack that off and research something better. From what I can gather it's an easy way to improve your brew drastically.

    In defence of the shop owner, the kit included an ale yeast, not a lager yeast, so the problem lies with the kit being described as an Australian Lager kit. As it contains ale yeast it should probably be called an Australian Ale Made To Taste Like Lager kit. Not quite as snappy... I believe...

    You make a good point actually. My shins could cop a hammering. And I do have a baby bath that has been gathering dust for a while. Is it ethical to use baby equipment for brewing?

    Thanks for your responses everyone. The garage is under the house and very dirty, with cobwebs etc. and the potential bottling bench is a workbench with plenty of sawdust etc all over. Spraying starsan on that wouldn't make much sense to be honest, hence why I want to do it in the kitchen...
