Yours look much like mine. The plant seems to ripen at different rates so i guess your going to get some that are a little brown and some that are a little green or pale. This plant went NUTS. First year cascade. I have about another flywire screen full in the freezer already.

Ah ok, most of them arent too bad, i just went over the whole plant and removed any that looked down or with a slight amount of brown. Ill keep an eye on it over the next 1-2 weeks and start removing them a bit at a time. Cheers

Well, they are starting to turn brown now for some reason and my instincts tell me they are down and i should pick atleast these ones that are changing color?

Thanks les / yob, I have had a few go yellow / brown and die so I may have been a little hasty. Still there are loads of hops on the vine, I will leave those for longer.

So....needless to say, I had nothing to worry about! Not sure how this fairs or what it will translate to as far as yeild goes but its gone kind of viral... :) The set up is obviously not ideal either but it should still work when its harvest time all the same. I can get to it quite easily...

I was expecting rhizomes to wonder everywhere in the vegie patch (like mint I guess), does that happen?

Im thinking next year maybe drilling into the brick (neighbours garage wall) and putting some eyelets and wire for it to climb up. I also think i should isolate it from the rest of the vegie patch so it doesnt take over. Digging a trench and putting down (something rot resistant) to stop it...

Well, there was obviously no need to worry, 2 weeks after my original post and my cascade has been growing atleast an inch a day! Its really shot up.

I actually have one behind it, its a wooden cross pattern trellis, not ideal but the best i can come up with in my small backyard!

All good! Was in the fermenter total of almost exactly 2 weeks. Bottomed out at approx. 1.018, Brew designer predicted 1.016. I'm going to crack one open early to slightly sate my anxiety (next couple of days). I'm relatively confident it will be ok though for reason I mentioned above.

Yes, I have been going nuts on beer at the moment so I actually have a box left! Had some the other night. 50/50 with lemonade, tastes like Bundaberg GB (that's a compliment btw). Very refreshing.

My tastebuds tell me artificial sweetener is horrid for a reason :D I would make a dry ginger ale and back sweeten. Looks like its the only option anyway!
