Storing cubes when not in use

Hi guys, Sorry I did a search and couldn't find any info. How do you store your cubes once you've used them? Sealed or unsealed? I cleaned mine out by letting it soak in oxy clean for a few days and rinsed it out. But I'm afraid if I seal it with a lid that it will encourage some mould to...

FS: 19L pot with tap and KegKing thermometer + bung

I'm not that close to Hornsby, often I'm working in the Homebush area but that's it. Someone has offered to pick it up next week so I'll see how it goes

FS: 19L pot with tap and KegKing thermometer + bung

For sale: 19L pot with tap and KegKing thermometer + bung Very simple stove top setup. I used it to start my all grain brewing, and have done 20 brews in it. I could do normal gravity brews at full volume brewing to 12-13L. I know it is probably not wanted here but thought it was worth a shot...

BIAB: Tipping boil dreggs into the fermenter

Thanks Barge, good advice I'd like to do that, try the same recipe twice and see how it goes. But then other people will probably say that it will also depend on the style of the beer, and other variables too. In the end of the day, there seems to be far too many different styles of beer and...

BIAB: Tipping boil dreggs into the fermenter

I should have added that I cold crash at the end of fermentation to try to drop most sediment out of the beer

BIAB: Tipping boil dreggs into the fermenter

Hi guys I've finally purchased a Crown urn. I was previously brewing in a pot. My urn has 3L of dead space at the moment. I may be able to reduce this with a pickup tube, but don't have one currently. I use a hop spider to boil with. I no chill, so I don't wait for 20mins for trub to settle...

    Electric urn reliability

Sorry about my first post. It was meant to say that I've been doing brew in a bag on the electric stove for just over a year. Currently I'm making about 12L batches. And I'm looking to go to normal volume of beer. Great to hear that I can expect many years out of them. That's what I was hoping for.

    Electric urn reliability

Hi guys I've been stove top for overBIABing (12L) a year now and am looking to go to full size batch BIAB (23L). I'm trying to work out how reliable the Crown urns are. I've heard of people having issues with temperature cut outs, gunk on elements, thermostat problems and element failures. But...

    Brulosophy

I love Marshall's blog. If we applied the same criticism voiced here regarding his blog then no one would have come up with no chilling. I'm glad people test ideas. Not being able to challenge accepted views on a subject is nothing short of a cult mentality

Mashing at a higher temp accidentally

Mash was 75mins, with 10min mash out. But it takes my stove 15 mins to heat up the wort to mash out, so more like 100-105 mins (in total)

Mashing at a higher temp accidentally

It's an American Pale Ale. The recipe was on the highest end of the spectrum ABV, 6.2%. I hope it doesn't come out too sweet!

Mashing at a higher temp accidentally

Hi guys I was using a new thermometer and it turned out it was giving me false readings (my fault). I mashed at 72 degrees and sparged at 78 degrees. I was aiming for 67 / 75. What impact will it have on my beer? Will it have a overly strong mouth feel? Thanks

What does it mean when a beer "has no finish"?

Full critique re one was: "it got the taste but needs a stronger body, first hits with what you expect but the finish is light" That was regarding an all grain biab hefewiezen. The hopping was light, but generally that is characteristic of the style. But my friend who said that grew up in...

What does it mean when a beer "has no finish"?

I've just started homebrewing and on occasion, have had a few friends say my beers having "no finish." These have been both kit and kilos and BIAB all grains. What does that mean and where have I gone wrong in my brewing? Thanks guys

    Made bottle bombs, help! :/

Thanks Dave70. I've got a lot to learn. That's what I thought. I mentioned it to my LHBS who said that C02 production is proportional to secondary sugar addition, not yeast levels. That is, some bottles could have had 20x the amount of yeast than others, but if the same portion of sugar is...

    Made bottle bombs, help! :/

Ok, first of all, thank you so much for your help so far. I've really been encouraged by all the help offered in the last few months. There was about 50 bottles across 2 mini batches (10L), brewed on different days, fermented for nearly the same time, about 12-13 days or so. Both had stable FG...
