    OG vs FG not enough?

Good explanation Mark, that makes perfect sense when explained so well. I will try to find a space in my fridge to place a PC fan.

    OG vs FG not enough?

"With a fan it doesn't matter where the probe is - the whole fridge will be the same, which is rather the point of putting in a fan." Sorry Mark, what I meant was that by placing the probe lower it could negate the need for a fan, I just didn't explain myself very well. I use a separate...

    OG vs FG not enough?

My first two brews started around .038 and ended at around .010, and I would have thought that there should have been more of a drop in SG than that from what I have read here. Re-hydration might just be the answer, although this is my first in a temp controlled fridge, the first two were...

    OG vs FG not enough?

"when you buy yeast plan to be able to take us straight home and put in the fridge (normal fridge temps) until your ready to use it ." Yes very true, the hard lessons that cost you in time effort and money are the lessons least forgotten.

    OG vs FG not enough?

Hi Warra, I googled the Fermentis site and they have a great tips and tricks pdf, does anyone here use it?

    OG vs FG not enough?

Thanks Warra, although it is illegible unfortunately but it gives me some clues as to where to look. I hadn't thought of a fan MHB, but that makes sense, and also begs the question.....should the temp probe also be located as low as practical on the outside of the tub to reduce low temps at the...

Thanks for that, what would be the correct method for Safale US-05?

    OG vs FG not enough?

Ok, I will boil the next brew, the first two were good though, is it for sterilization or SG? The other thing I have read here is about yeast rehydration, does that make a difference to how active the yeast is?

    OG vs FG not enough?

I forgot to mention that I am using rain water if that makes a difference?

    OG vs FG not enough?

I might raise the temp and give it a swirl each night for a few days.

    OG vs FG not enough?

Hi all, I am a starter at home brew and I have encountered an issue with my third brew. It is a Coopers Lager, 23 litres with a pack of Safale US-05 and BE1, this has been in my fermentation fridge controlled by an STC1000 at about 19 degrees. My original SG reading was .038 and it was...

    Dead yeast?

I guess if I were to tip it down the drain I would never know, I will bottle and try it since I have nothing to lose.

    Dead yeast?

Just for the record, what is the maximum shelf life of brews and yeasts? The tin I used had a use by date of late 2015, is that fresh?

    Dead yeast?

If the yeast has fermented out, is there anything I can do to revive it? Add proper yeast? Stir to oxygenate?

    Dead yeast?
