How many litres did you brew - 2013?

A grand total of 46L! It would have been more but by the time i had brewed the 2 x 23L batches it was time to start packing for a house move. Im hoping to average a little over a keg every couple of weeks in 2014

How Many Posts On AHB Do You Need To Win a Brew Comp

Maybe there would be a correlation between posts READ and comp wins rather than posts MADE. I say this as a self confessed noob who has read at least a hundred times more posts than I have made.

    Ebay, Gumtree and FB Marketplace

Thanks for the tip. I bought the full set up of him for a little less than the initial offer. A solid deal I thought . I just wish I could use it now but I'm moving interstate so my stepping into the world of AG beer will have to wait

    2nd Beer is Done

Quite right Manticle. I was actually pouring a beer for my wife at the time, great pour, perfect head, nice and clear, pretty great tasting too. Then it blows foam! I could have cried! I now have only 2 bottles each of my first and second brews and will not be able to brew again until mid...

    2nd Beer is Done

Im loving the Keg in comparison to bottling. The "ave a go son ale" is still very young but quite tasty. Carbonation (first attempt at forced) seems right on the money. Im hoping that the hop aroma/flavor will develop over the next couple of weeks but for a first attempt at creating my own...

Imperial Pale Ale or "Not quite a Landslide Pale Ale"

I tried my landslide pale ale on my work mates. They generally did not like it, Mostly due to lack of carbonation and the huge hop taste. The one person who did like it was a home brewer of 20 years experience who said it was a solid first attempt at a pale ale. Im going to chalk it up as a win!

    2nd Beer is Done

I just dry hopped in the primary, 30g EKG after 10 days of pretty consistent fermentation at 20o C. I have read a great deal of conflicting info all over the web about the best time to dry hop and cold crash. It looks like any number of differing variables will give a decent outcome so ill just...

Imperial Pale Ale or "Not quite a Landslide Pale Ale"

I couldn't wait so I am drinking it. It has been interesting to see the carbonation develop. The taste is a big wallop of hoppy bitterness and a long lingering hop finish on top of about 6% ABV. Bloody good result considering how all over the place the brew day and bottling day were. I love it...

    2nd Beer is Done

I was going to give secondary a go just to see what it would do.......clears the look of the beer a bit? If that is really it I might not bother. I will have to look into your other suggestion about dropping temp and when to dry hop. If I bottle at close to zero I would have to let bottles...

    2nd Beer is Done

Hi, I thought I would run this recipe by a few of you more experienced beer smiths. It is only my second attempt at home brew (the first is conditioning and delicious already!). I found this site http://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/beer/ and could not resist creating my own recipe. 23L...

Imperial Pale Ale or "Not quite a Landslide Pale Ale"

I have just finished bottling my first beer. I had a very stressful time, especially with siphoning, even though I practised. I ended up splashing a bit of sanitiser into the bottling bucket and about a quarter pint of Ale all over the kitchen but i managed to bulk prime and fill 23 x 750 ml...

Imperial Pale Ale or "Not quite a Landslide Pale Ale"

Hi, Im very new to home brew as my first creation is still in the fermenter. It was called "not quite a Landslide" as my brew day was the day after the federal election. The recipe is for "Imperial pale ale" from the "Extreme Brewing" book by Sam Caglione, with some hot tips from Palmers...
