$15 Kmart Pot / CraftBeerPi BIAB Rig

In all honesty, I'm not keen to give advice on a public forum, given how many people read it, and the interpret it to suit themselves. That said, you have bolted an electric element to a metal 'body' and not earth it. If that element breaks down mid use your setup now has the potential to be...

$15 Kmart Pot / CraftBeerPi BIAB Rig

Yes, lack of earth. It's hard to say exactly what is Happening without closer inspection, but the not sure what a 32A breaker(not a 15A rcd as original stated) is doing in there, probably should be 10A max, as it seems it plugs into a 10A gpo, but depending on what is plugged into it, could draw...

Just feel the need to say, you should get a qualified electrician to check out your work, as I'm not convinced it's safe.

    Most flexible Coopers kit?

Hi. My guess is that the coopers mexican cerveza can will be one of the more flexible. It's low on bitterness and any hops flavour. I used to used it as a base when I did kits. Good luck.

IPA and Porter recipes: steeping grain

    Ginger beer recipe

Hi. I find the Morgan's kit very similar to the Coopers. I add 120g if fresh ginger, sliced and steeped for half an hour with one cinnamon stick and one Clove. I then add this steped Liquid to the fermenter with the kit and 1.5 kilo of dextrose. Your recipe has ALOT of fermentables, too many in...

    Brewer’s Vernacular...

Boil addition times are all usually referenced as minutes to end of boil. So in essence their instructions appear to be correct, just possibly vague, and assuming if such knowledge, in my opinion.

    RecipeDB - DrSmurto's Golden Ale

Not sure if this helps you But I ferment my version of this at 17 degrees with Wyeast 1272 for 1 week, then dry hop for another week, this could crash for approx 1 week before bottling. All this is done in the primary and the 3 week time frame revolves around only having time to work on my...

    Kit Enhancing

HI using the same instructions as stewy ( to save writting them all again) you could try the following: Can of Dark Ale + 1 Kg of LDME 200g Pale chocolate 200G carafa 1 20g of Fuggles or East Kent Goldings in the last 5 minutes of the boil. My yeast of choice( for my dark ales) is a liquid...

Fridge v freezer for fermenting fridge?

I use 2 upright freezers for fermenting, an old frigidaire 160 and a new Fisher and Paykel. Both work great. Both are controlled with an stc1000. As mentioned, access is easy like a fridge, but you have better insulation, and can easily get to 0 degrees for cold crashing. So Yeah, I'd...
