    O-Rings

I've had problems with the outer post orings that seals the post to the corny keg fittings. I have the generic keg fittings and orings supplied by a Home brew web shop but found they leak if any tension is applied to the fittings. I just lost a CO2 bottle worth of gas... Here is what I found...

    Question about kegging

Not bulk priming because it's only the left over couple of litres. From what I'm hearing here, it seems like I should just prime as normal. 2 carb drops per 750mm bottle. Thanks for the replies!

    Spreadsheet recipe

I've just finished kegging my second partial extract brew. I did a 6 litre boil with some crystal and a couple of hop varieties. Also 2 tins of coopers LME I was a couple of points short of BG but ended up a couple of point slower on FG so fermintation using US05 was very good. My style...

    Question about kegging

I've got a corny setup. I'm trying to move to more advanced techniques and on my last brew I went into a secondry for 5 days before kegging. For the last 2 days I put the secondary in the fridge and once cold used gelatin to aid clearing. I'm not actually sure that the gelatin made that much...

    Electric Brewery Build

Just wondering why you would use checker plate rather than flat plate, Figure flate plate is heaps easier to clean and less little nicks for bacteria to hide.... Just a thought :) PS: looks awesome!

Recipe inspired by use of spread sheet - comments or suggestions welco

Yes mate, it is Ian's awesome one. I did ajust the boil volume down to 6 litres which is what I used so all good. I've modified the brew day sheet too, to be more specific with a more step by step process and included to cool the boil pot before making up the fermenter. I'll brobably do a few...

Yep, good activity in the fermenter now.... My biggest problem is that 19L kegs don't last long enough.... definately need to get another one down as soon as I keg this and get more kegs.....

I'm new and this may be a dumb question!

I'm not surprised you were driven away from another forum. What surprises me is that people including me even bother to reply to your rubbish.

Brew is in the fermenter... The spreadsheet suggests to boil 10 litres. I did 6 litres because I was limited by pot size. Everything went really well until I got to pitching the yeast. I had anticipated that I would need cold water to top up my wort due to the very hot 6 litres after the boil...

Recipe update, OK after a bit more reading and valuable input from this thread I'm adjusting the recipe as follows: Here is the recipe and output from the spread sheet: 1.5 Coopers LME Dark (whole tin) 1.5 Coopers LME light (whole tin) 0.35 Dextrose Yeast S04 hydrated at 30c stir for 30 min...

    coffee grinder

Just tested it with some medium crystal I just bought. It removes the husk without damage to the husk and breaks the grain into about 4 to 7 bits. It's certainly nothing like flour. I'm thinking this would be perfect. I'd post a photo but the wankers at google have changed the whole photos...

    coffee grinder

Yes I just set it for it's max setting using coffee beans and the result is particle sizes of around 1-2mm. I wouldn't want to be doing 3 Kgs with it but 500 Gms wouldn't be a hassle.... What is the particle size to aim for to steep for extract brew enhancement?

    coffee grinder

Has anybody tried using a coffee grinder for grain? I have a large commercial coffee grinder as in surplus at home as I have move to an auto coffee machine. I'm wondering if I set it on a very course setting if it would be good for crushing specialty grain for enhancing extract brews? Seems...

Yep, the cheap arse that I am, I'll be looking into the Bunnings option.... Thanks for the tip! :kooi:

Yes I was concerned with the colour. I like it fairly dark and the spread sheet shows it out of range for the style on the dark side. It totally depends on the style parameters and the settings for the coppers extract tins being accurate, I have no idea about this though and exactly where the...

I'll probably increase the boil time a bit and edge it up a bit.... You have me nervous now hahaha.... I'd hate it if it turns out crap!

Thanks for the input, I like a malty beer and figured this was going to be OK but not really understanding how the graph on the spreadsheet relates to reality is the problem. However if I move it up to the bettirness rate you suggest it blows it right off the chart for the "Australian Dark/Old...

I'm going to have a go at using un-hopped LME I like Tooheys old and lots of darker beers and want to get somewhere close to this. Here is the recipe and output from the spread sheet: 0.75 Coopers LME Dark (half tin) 0.75 Coopers LME light 1.3 KG Light dry ME 0.2 KG Dark dry ME 0.1...

    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

Thanks mate, I had a look at this a while ago but I think my brewing knowledge was insufficient so I didn't use it. It has now inspired me to have a go with a recipe created in the spreadsheet with the style guidelines as a guide. Thanks for the work and the sharing. PM me for help on a later...

    Kegging kit beers

Thanks for the very informative replies lads! A big help which reaffirms that my reading of this excellent forum has me on the right track. I was going to switch to US06 yeast but now I think I'll try this recipe again sticking with the S04 and try to get the ABV up to closer to 5%. I do prefer...
