Tuning PID (Arduino pid, full HLT volume).

Is the output on 100% and it's failing to reach the setpoint? Is there enough power in the heating element to get to your setpoint? Insulating the vessel will help with heat loss and speed up the rate of warming up the tank. I use the Ziegler Nichols Method to tune PIDs. Very easy if you can...

Aldi drill powered pump on sale this week

Think it could be used safely with sanitiser? A mate was thinking it would be good to put a post on one of these to clean our his beer lines/taps fridge. Bit over the top, but you could even go as far as putting a spray ball on it for cleaning kegs and fermenters, or a cheap mini pressure washer...

VIC : Stainles Brewery, fridges, kegs mills, everything

How much were you after for the fridge? I'm also interested in a few kegs if the price is right. What were you thinking for the ones that need new posts/complete?

    Dunkelweizen

Fresh Hallertauer Mittelfrüh is about 4.3%. According to the extract spreadsheet 35g @ 60mins should run in the order of 16 IBU's. BJCP guidelines say 10-18. So i'm guessing it's alright.

wow, thanks warra48! I was concerned about the coffee flavours in the choc malt Guess i won't be putting this one on this weekend! I might have to order some of the speciality grains on CraftBrewer. None of my LHBS seem to have the grains you mentioned :( How does this look? -3kg Liquid Wheat...

    clogged tap :(

I did give barbie g's idea a go. The tap +sediment reducer was packed too tight. Would've been perfect if the sediment reducer wasn't there! and practicalfool.... Think you got the wrong idea :) i'm not angry. I got into this to have fun (and drink beer:)), and i'm already laughing at my...

    clogged tap :(

thanks for the advice.... but wow.... no need to be a knob about it :) i'm sure you've stuffed up at least once in your brewing career. I've been at this less than 6 months. I hope when i get at the stage of giving advice instead of asking for it, i won't be mouthing off to novices about how...

    toucan choc stout recipe check

Very few people mention that, but i did pick that up in my research. It's a very decieving name 'Chocolate' Malt :) I was aiming for more of a chocolate that coffee flavour in the end. Would 300grams of the choc malt give a very pronounced coffee flavour?

    toucan choc stout recipe check

Hi guys, never made a stout before or used any specialty grains so i thought i'd get your opinion before i start cooking! It's a bit of a combination of other recipies i've found here and on the internet. Ingredients 1x Coopers Stout 1x Coopers Dark Ale 500g LDME 500g Dextrose 300g...

    clogged tap :(

Update:.....f'ing disaster! I cheaped out and bought some hose from bunnings instead of an auto syphon. Big mistake. Ended up getting it into the second vessel after a couple of goes and then i realised ..... no tap.... just a bung :( so, i cleaned the first vessel and tap and tried to syphon...

    clogged tap :(

thanks guys. both great ideas! unfortunatly the only hose laying around is the garden hose. I guess it'll have to wait until i can get to bunnings or a brew shop

    clogged tap :(

Thats what i meant when i poked it with a spoon, from the inside. I've got the sediment reducer in though. i have a feeling the blockage is in there. last time i throw hops in loose i think!

    How much to dry hop?

Thanks guys! Feeling a bit more confident now. I did had a look at the dry hopping wiki thread and it seemed to suggest 1g/L. From the many recipes I've come across this rate is often ignored! So i thought I'd start a new thread. Now i know i haven't gone overboard.... should i push it up even...

    How much to dry hop?

Hi all, Is there a rule of thumb to how much you should dry hop a beer? I've got an IPA on at the moment and i was planning on dry hopping in a couple days. The airlock is smelling VERY wonderful and i'm not sure if I'll need as much as i planned. Here's my recipe. 1x Coopers IPA Kit 1.5kg...

    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

I thought i'd do some experimenting with making two 'half' batches with different hops. Pour half the tin in one fermenter and the other half in a second and top them up to 11 or so liters. When i attempt this on spreadsheet the IBU's and EBC of the kit seems to be based on using the full weight...
