    Aldi specials

I picked up one of the non stick pizza trays and it fits nicely in the top of a crown urn. Planning to use it to sit the bag on while it drains.

    Glasses what's best

I bought a box of these glasses recently for a party. They have all shapes and sizes, etched and non etched. I couldn't go past them for a $1 a glass and I don't mind the smaller size - less time for the beer to get warm in summer.

    The Beer Cellar - WTF?

Strange that the only liquor licence they show on the AU site was issued in Hamilton, NZ. I know we're only the West Island but I didn't know we had reciprocal licencing arrangements.

Why have some bottles carbonated better than others?

I found with bottles, whether bulk primed or individually primed, it made a big difference how long I gave them to chill down in the fridge. 3 hours was OK to cool to drinking temp but not enough time for the CO2 to dissolve into the beer. If I gave them at least 24 hours in the fridge then...

Malt flavour in extract Boh Pilsner - advice please

Hi All - I'm after some advice on improving a Boh Pilsner extract recipe. I brewed the recipe below and it's been lagering for a month. I sampled a bottle on the weekend and did a side-by-side test with Pilsner Urquell. Colour wise, mine is lighter than the more golden PU but has better head...

One for the IT gurus - MS Excel

Your IT Dept should take a look at Sharepoint. Comes as part of Windows Server and allows you to store documents in a shared environment but with strict access controls (who gets to read, who gets to modify etc). To modify a file, you check it out so no one else can work on it while you are and...

    Odd Hydrometer Readings

If you're using the plastic Coopers hydrometer then it will need to be calibrated. I didn't realise for a long time that the red plastic tip is designed to be cut off to calibrate. Use distilled water at 20C and if the hydrometer reads high, start trimming off small pieces off the plastic tip...
