    Re-using The Entire Yeast Cake

Running out of time today, so I pitched a Skunk Fart Ale straight onto the yeastcake from a Coopers Pale clone. I used 1272 American Ale yeast in the Coopers clone, and couldn't another packet of yeast locally. I thought it would be fine, after reading SJW's post, I'm not so sure.

    Jaipur Recipe

I've heard a bit about it, and would love to try it, but I don't think anywhere in Australia sells it. I can't imagine it's as bad as my attempt.

    Jaipur Recipe

So I made a batch of the 2nd recipe I posted, and was quite disappointed. Lot of bitterness and malt, but hardly any hop flavour at all. I chilled it after letting the flameout hops(150g!) sit for 20 mins, so was quite surprised that the hop flavour wasn't stronger. I've dry hopped it after...

    Jaipur Recipe

RecipeDB - Lord Nelson Citra Cascading out of this Galaxy Pale Ale

Big thumbs up from me LRG! I brewed the no Nelson version and loved it. I dry hopped 50g into the keg with a teaball and was really impressed with the hop flavour and aroma. Much disappointment from the group last night when the Keg blew dry.

    Lemonade

OK, newest batch is in. I added 250g of Lactose to this batch to see if I give it a little bit of sweetness without going overboard. Unfortunately I could'nt get any Meyer lemons from the tree at my brother's house and had to get some Lisbson's from the shop. They were nowhere near as juicy...

    Lemonade

Sorry, haven't been on here for a while. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e4/Lemon.jpg I'm cutting off all the outer skin and the white inner skin, and just using the pale yellow flesh inside. My assembly line is: Take the lemon and grate some zest off, cut the two "pointy ends"...

    Lemonade

I'm using the recipe that Enoch posted back on page 7, http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/inde...st&p=504069 Ingredients 1kg rough lemons 2kg Meyer lemons 2kg Dextrose 1 sachet ale dry yeast (I'm using US-05) Method. 1. Grate the zest(rind) off of a few of the lemons. Do not grate the...

    Lemonade

Next batch is in. This version used 2 kg of white sugar, instead of the 1kg of dextrose/1kg of white sugar. I also weighed the amount of pulp and juice in the pot this time, to try and get some consistency with the strength of the lemon taste. So I used 2.5kg of juice and pulp in this batch, and...

    Melissa George

Go and watch the movie "Dark City" for a Melissa George moment. Then spend the rest of the movie drooling at Jennifer Connelly.

    Buckled Aluminium Pot While Cooling

Looking at the pot now, it's more like 3mm. Will try to give it a solid base to sit on while it's hot and see if it makes a difference.

    Buckled Aluminium Pot While Cooling

It's only maybe 5-8mm thick. I did the same with the 19 litre Big W pot I have for my first brew, and it didn't warp at all. I thought I had bent it from sitting it on the bricks, they didn't give the pot support across the whole base. But reading the replies, maybe it didn't matter what I sat...

    Buckled Aluminium Pot While Cooling

Yeah, it's a Ray's Outdoors one. I'm waiting on some copper tubing from Polyaire for the immersion chiller, so I'll hold out on the chilling until then.

    Buckled Aluminium Pot While Cooling

No chill is an option, but after reading so much on the chill/no chill debate I wanted to try it. I've no chilled the last 2 brews, including my last version of Dr Smurto's Golden Ale. Just wanted to see what difference it made.

    Buckled Aluminium Pot While Cooling

Did my first brew in a 40 L crab cooker pot today. All went well until I wanted to chill the pot down to pitching temp. As I don't have my immersion chiller yet, I placed the pot in a large eathernware planter pot full of water. I placed a couple of bricks in the bottom, to keep the hot...

    Megajet 100 Btu Burner

I grabbed one on Saturday and had a quick play with it. The frame seems pretty strong. I'm 115kg and I stood on the burner stand without it flexing too much. It's pretty loud while running!

    RecipeDB - DrSmurto's Golden Ale

Just about to put the order in for my first All grain version of this. I can't find any JW grain on Beerbelly or BrewAdelaide's sites, and wanted to try the award winning version. Did they change the name of the grain?

Move To All Grain For Thirty Bucks

So I've moved up slightly, and scored one of the 40 litre crab cookers from Rays outdoors. I'm going to make a Dr Smurtos Golden Ale on Thursday and wanted to double check some techniques. I think I lost some efficiency with the sparge on my last batch, and talking to some other people, they...

    Home Made Immersion Chillers?

Went to try and get this underway today, but Polyaire were out of stock of both 3/8" and 1/2" pipe. When I told them what is was for, the guy remarked that he has received a number of calls and a couple of other orders for pipe, for the same purpose... Waiting for stock now.
