    Low Og For Our Ag

G'day Brewers, We did our first AG at the weekend (DrSmurto's Golden Ale). We used the volumes of grain given on the AHB recipe db. When we entered these into BeerSmith the expected OG was very low. Our measured OG was also very low, so we added som light DME to get the gravity up. Can...

    Halting Fermentation

G'day Brewers, My current brew has been fermenting for 7 days. I used a powdered yeast nutrient to improve attenuation, but I fear it might dry out the beer too much. Can I stop the fermentation by cold crashing, then adding finings to limit the amount of unspent yeast entering the...

    Cold Weather Yeasts?

G'day Brewers, Well I did a quick search on AHB for this, but obviously didn't have any luck. Are there any ale yeasts that are better suited to a lower fermenting temperature? Say around 14-18C? With winter approaching in South Oz, I want to keep brewing, but not keen on the heater...

    Help Chocolate Lme Needed

G'day Brewers, I'm having trouble tracking down 2kg of chocolate LME. I have recently found out that Morgan's deleted their Choc LME from their Master Blend range. If anyone knows where I can get two 1kg cans of the Morgans Choc LME...

    Dry Hopping

G'day Brewers, I am in need of some advice. I trawled through AHB, but to no avail. When dry hopping is it better to rack then dry hop, or can I just dry hop in the primary fermenting tank? Obviously this is a K&E brew. ;) I look forward to your comments. Cheers...

    Checking For Cracked Bottles

G'day Brewers, After recently buying 100 Pick Axe brand bottles and cleaning them (see my post here) my finacee and I heard a cracking sound. So I got my trusty dolphin torch and start shining it into the bottles to find the...

    Bottles And Cleaning

G'day Brewers, Woohoo! I scored 100 pick axe bottles yesterday for a reasonable price, and the guy threw in a free fermenting tank. So everything is pretty grubby, I was thinking I could soak it all in a bleach solution, then rinse thoroughly and keep out of the dust etc...

    Light Beer

G'day Brewers, Am having trouble tracking down a thread on brewing low alcholic content beer (aka light). I wouldn't bother with this for myself, :icon_vomit: but both my step-father and almost father-in-law enjoy the light beers. I would imagine that adding...

    How To Get Degrees Symbol

G'day Brewers, Keyboard short cut for the degrees symbol is hold down "Alt" and type "0176" on the numerical keypad. You can't use the number keys above the alpha keys. e.g. 18 "Alt" + "0176" C = 18C. Cheers and happy brewing, Damo

    Dry Enzyme

Hey all, Well my second brew (K&E JS Golden Ale Clone) is fermenting away nicely at 22C. Would like to get it down to 20, but it is pretty bloody hot here in Radelaide today. Anyway, that's...
