Finally got a chance to put this brew down yesterday. Had a quick taste whilst taking an OG and pitching yeast this morning, at this stage it tastes beautifully balanced - a subtle ginger taste but the lemon is also easily identifiable. I would say the ginger is on the low end of the scale at...
Good tip MartinOC but I BIAB so I won't be an issue for me. I'm going to give this a go tomorrow so I will report back in a few weeks. Does anyone have any thoughts on the high percentage of carahell?
Hi All,
I am pretty keen to put down a ginger beer in the next few days. My recipe at this stage is:
Ginger Beer
Original Gravity (OG): 1.039 (°P): 9.8
Final Gravity (FG): 1.009 (°P): 2.3
Alcohol (ABV): 3.92 %
Colour (SRM): 5.8 (EBC): 11.4
Bitterness (IBU): 0.0...
Me too, from previous experience it could be here in 2 days or it could take 3 weeks, the inconsistancy is very frustrating! I will let you know truman.
Yeah but will boc refill them? probably not although i have not asked them. I am in the same boat, I am in Karratha WA and we have a boc in town aswell as a supagas but that means paying rental on a bottle forever, and the closest kegking refill station according to their map is in perth 1600kms...
We have one and ive poured over the idea aswell, but the amount of effort involved for such a small batch makes it not worthwhile. I have ground a small amount of grain in it though on a couple of occasions which it does with absolute ease.
Yeah we made exactly the same mistake, ate just before heading there, and therefore couldnt taste the beers, so will keep that in mind next time. awesome set-up but, man i love that margeret river region, so many breweries!!

Says for solar hot water systems as well but there are no specs on how hot it can work with and I've only test run it on cold.
It seams to work fine restricting flow with valve control. The only thing I could see it going pear shaped on the day is the seal failing from the heat.

Thanks Manticle, quick helpful advice as usual. What Im thinking i will do is rack this lot into a cube, bulk prime it then bottle half before adding some lactose to the other half for the missus. should i then just let the bottles come back up to room temp or should i store them at say 15C for...
Ive got some all juice cider im about to bottle and after reading posts on here i decided i should drop the temp in my fermenterator to 2C a couple of days ago. Now Ive realised Ive got to bottle carbonate, so will my yeast survive?
