    New FB Group

Edit: found it - strange that it didn't come up for me the other day

    New FB Group

Hey man - I can't find the group, only that one event page.

    No Topic Thread

If anyone here who is a competent AG brewer and a competent AG distiller felt like starting a PM conversation with me, it would be appreciated. I am trying to get my head around a few small details - there seems to be comparatively less concrete/consistent mashing details in this other dark...

    Ballarat catchup?

Hey blokes, I just wanted to add to this: don't take my free weekends into account, at this stage I might not be able to make it in Feb at all. Cheers.

    Ballarat catchup?

I could possibly do the weekend either side of that one, but not that one haha

    Ballarat catchup?

Yep, I'm in if I'm about! Is Munsters Arms any good Slcmorro? I haven't got there yet. I'll get my next roster in another week or so and will happily throw a few dates around if no one else does.

Changing mash temp for effect - hot weather beers

For my 2c I am not a fan of dropping the mash temp too much. If I want a drier/crisper beer I drop everything but base malt (or a bit of wheat or rye can be good too). I would keep your mash at 66 and drop the munich. Keep the mouthfeel, lose some of the overt maltiness. Edit: the 'downside'...

    Cubby Haus

Yep, he took us through his system etc - it's all easily visible from the bar but we went back and climbed all over it for a look. His output is currently 500L per batch from memory.

    Cubby Haus

It just so happens that - in my limited time in NZ - Emersons were my fave there also haha.

    Cubby Haus

So, I finally saved some coin and spent some time with a few fellow brewers at Ballarat's new microbrewery, Cubby Haus Brewing: http://www.cubbyhausbrewing.com.au First, I'd like to say how happy I am that Ballarat has a no-bullshit, fair dinkum microbrewery dedicated to producing a small...

    Ballarat Crawl

Billygoat and I will be at Cubby Haus brewing around 12.45/1pm-ish this coming Sunday. We'll work out the rest from there!

Growing hops in a pot - using wire mesh

I can't add pics on here anymore without url nonsense. Anyway. Hops in pots... we all know hops need height for prolific fruiting, but it has been my experience that rhizomes of all sorts also need some space to be rhizomes. I had hops in the ground for 6 years as well as trying various pots...

    Ballarat Crawl

So, me and Billygoat and Big Lou are keen to find an arvo in October to work our way through the newly opened Cubby Haus brewing, then on to the Mallow and Hop Temple (in whatever order). I believe we should also kick the day off at Red Duck just so someone can (try to) prove to me that they...

    Rye/Sorrento/Portsea area

Already stopping them in the streets haha - getting pretty bored with beard comments from 5 year olds and 23 year olds alike. Righto Hix for lunch and beers today. Pretty fascinated with the sharp class divide between Rye and Sorrento (we are currently in the former and it is a sharp contrast to...

    Rye/Sorrento/Portsea area

Gday - of course I'm here early in the week and the closest breweries are closed until Thursday - any where within coo-ee I can get a decent pint and maybe a decent feed?
