    Funky bottle dregs, wanted.

G'day fellow brewers. I am having a bit of trouble finding any decent sour/funky beers with living yeast and bacteria. I am in Adelaide. I'm currently aging a beer brewed with dregs from a crooked stave, jester king and trois dames collaboration of sorts, Sin Frontera. The beer was fantastic and...

    Under bench fridges

I just use a standard bar fridge. Picked it up for next to nothing. I had to bend the freezer out and pin it to the back walls to fit 2 cornies. I use a fridge mate to control the temps as this caused the whole fridge to become a freezer. Has been running non stop for over 10 years now. Cheers. Dez

    Biab Mash And Boil Times

In my first few BIABs I only stirred as I added the grain. On about number five I decided to stir (bunnings large paint stirrer) every couple of minutes up untill the 20 minute mark and found an instant significant gain in effiency pushing a planned 4.5% beer into a 6% beer. I jumped straight on...

Hop Suggestions For Aussie Pale Ale

Yeah I've been reading all the old posts on CPA clones, just didn't want to bump them up from 3-6 years back. Definately not goin for a clone, just something along the same lines with a bit of extra flavour and aroma at the end. I was planning on re-culturing yeast from bottles also if this...

Black Ipa Recipe Help Needed (feral Karma Citra)

Wow, that sounds like alot of hops, but I suppose thats what would give it its character. What is the pupose of the gypsum and chalk? Is it the same as the bag of gypsum in my garden shed? What kind of chalk is it? Cheers, Dez

Adding Home Grown Hops To My Brew

Will putting them straight into the cube raw be too much of an infection risk? Should I boil them or something first? Any help appreciated, will be racking it tomorrow.

Adding Home Grown Hops To My Brew

I didn't add the hops earlier into the brew as I didn't really know how, or how much was needed. I've added packeted finishing hops befor to the cube with good results, hopefully fresh hops will do even better. I bought the hop rhizomes over ebay just befor spring time, thats when they all...

Adding Home Grown Hops To My Brew

G'day all. I'm new to this forum so go easy on me. Currently in the keg I have a Muntons mount melick irish style cream ale, which was brewed with a tin of light liquid malt and 250grams of light dried malt. I used safale s-04 yeast. It is a good beer and I'm quiet happy with it. In the...
