    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

Alas, it seems I cannot use this excellent looking spreadsheet due to the presence of ActiveX controls. Using Apple Mac with Office 2004 which does not support ActiveX. You don't by any chance have a version without ActiveX do you Ian?

    Dirty Taps

Great thanks, it worked! Now to get cleaning.... By the way not sure if there is something wrong with my browser or this forum but I am having trouble entering my post. Cursor is not able to be placed where I want to? Anyway, who cares? At least I can clean my taps!

    Dirty Taps

I have a couple of taps that have stuff, presumably mould, trapped between the inner and outer sleeve. If I clean and sanitize them as best I can but there is still dark matter trapped in there, I am wondering if the brew will get infected. Does any one else have dirty taps like these? Is this...

Heineken Kit 23l Instead Of 21l And Other Stuff

Thanks once again guys for babysitting me through this. I feel much more confident of getting a half decent result now after reading your advice. I'm not particularly in a hurry so may try the diacetyl rest but then again I might just plonk it in the fridge as Manticle suggests. I'll sleep on it...

Heineken Kit 23l Instead Of 21l And Other Stuff

I don't have a secondary fermenter, as this is my very first batch and actually I just had to look up "lagering" to understand your question! I would be happy to give it a try if you can give me some pointers. I gather I am to transfer to a secondary fermenter and store at 10C less than primary...

Heineken Kit 23l Instead Of 21l And Other Stuff

Saflager S-23. It's been pretty cold here - close to zero some morns, that's why I've had the heat pad.

Heineken Kit 23l Instead Of 21l And Other Stuff

OK thanks, I'll be using glass bottles and carbonation drops, hence the trepidation.

Heineken Kit 23l Instead Of 21l And Other Stuff

OK, this has been fermenting for two weeks now. After the first week the sg was 1.016 and now it's 1.013. Still bubbling so I'm afraid to bottle. The temp in my garage is on average about 14C during the day and I have a heat pad on from midnight until 7am. I'm thinking maybe the yeast was too...

Heineken Kit 23l Instead Of 21l And Other Stuff

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I feel less stupid now! I put the tap in soon after your replies, tiny bit of spillage out of the air lock hole even though we thought we had it covered. I went out for the arvo and just got back and there are no bubbles yet - it's been just on 24 hours, is that...

    Introduce Yourself.

G'day everyone, my mates call me EJ and I'm just starting to brew my own. I have always been keen to try new/different beers and my friends thought I was weird as a teenager when I drank elephant beer while they swilled their VB. Recently had a sea change and new digs includes nice big garage...

Heineken Kit 23l Instead Of 21l And Other Stuff

Um, just mixed by first brew and just wondering what will be the likely difference if I've made it to 23L instead of 21L. It's a Heineken lager kit and I made it up to the instructions except I got ahead of myself and filled the fermenter to 21L before I had added the kit converter. I then...
