    Commercial Examples A Particular Hop

Just dry hopped our initial batch of Topaz Single Hop IPA today - had a look at AHB tonight and felt compelled to reply. It was bittered with 2010 pellets, and dry hopped with 2011 flowers. Hops came out of the Rostrevor garden on Wednesday, apparently Topaz is one of the last varieties to...

    Hargreaves Hill Hefeweizen Yeast

Best bet is to use a fresh 3068 pack. I am not a fan of reculturing yeast from a bottle. A packaged beer is a very inhospitatable environment for yeast to live, and by the time it has got to this stage, most of its life is well behind it. Better to start with a fresh culture. There is...

It will be slightly more expensive because of the extra ingredients and the excise - 5.2%a/v. It will be available across Melb initially, but we will be sending some to Sydney also.

I meant "taste" - sorry. Are you looking for more bitterness or aroma (and aroma related flavour)? Bitterness will start to diminish after time as will other hop characters. Grainy/astringent flavours may be related to mashing, and also yeast management.

Probably go late with your hops. How do your beers look after a bit longer in the bottle?

Well spotted! Our current ESB is pure Galaxy, but we do tweak quite a bit - Citra, NS and other things. We are about 2-3 weeks away from releasing ESB in a bottle. The first bottled batch will also be all galaxy. Just a question JBowers, when do you plan to add the hops? I think that all...

    White Rabbit Dark Ale Clone

I still proudly wear a dry hopped nappy, and sadly no longer refer to myself as a young brewer. And I know that Kai is up to his ears in nappies - Kai, give me a call and drop past for a beer when time allows. Dean, hope you're well. How's Canadia? Best regards Simon (just reread the...

    Counter-pressure Bottle Filler.

Interestingly, I bought one last week to bottle a couple of hundred champagne bottles of our Abbey Dubbel. The John Guest fitting idea looks to be a winner - so easy to sanitise. If done properly, there shouldn't be significant pressure loss during filling as long as the vessel that you are...

    Hargreaves Hill Esb Recipe

If you read any judging guidelines (BJCP or Brewers Association - which is used for the AIBAs) this beer ticks all the boxes. I view it as a "new world" interpretation of the style, using "new world" hops - since we have been brewing this beer, we have selected hops from US, NZ and Australia...

    New Hargreaves Hill Beers

Since you asked Just thought that I'd jump on and give you a bit of an update. About a week after the fire, we found and bought a 12 HL steam jacketed system. We have also leased a much larger factory in Lilydale, and we are currently installing the system there. The...

    Many Thanks From Hargreaves Hill

Hi All It's very hard to find a forum to thank everybody for the support that we have been shown since the fires on February 7, but I think AHB is probably a good place to start. As some of you probably know, the Hargreaves Hill Brewery at Brockspur Farm was destroyed, and Beth and I have been...
