Valves In Mach Pump Brew System?

Try a proper hose and fittings place, not just the hardware store (but might also be worth a look-the ones here bend you over the bench and give you a good ... :o  though-I steer clear whenever possible). Couple of phone calls should sort out the prices pretty quick. I got good prices...

Valves In Mach Pump Brew System?

Steve, at the flow rates you'll be running at I don't think you would feel choked with normal 1/2" ball valves-have some confidence in that nearly every brewery you see on the net is running 1/2" valves. If there was a problem you'd know about it. These should only run you around $6-7 each for...

    Large Scale Home Breweries

Just thought I'd post this site I found as I thought it might be handy for someone out there, particularly for clubs. Seeing as there seems to be more and more brewing clubs forming maybe we might start to see some club systems being put together and some big brew days. Anyway, might be good...

Using O2 To Push Beer Kegs.

FWIW you don't need a lot of pressure to make stuff move, but you'd be surprised what pressure you can get to if you really want to pump (I guess my pump is a fairly good quality one - Blackburn? From my mountain biking). My pump has one of those schrader type setups that just clamps a big...

Using O2 To Push Beer Kegs.

Unfortunately your beer will just stale, and quite quicky at serving pressure. You'll still end up with a mixture of O2 and CO2 in your beer as the whole sytem will equilibrate until there is an equal amount of air in the beer as in the head space. I do use air to push sanitizer, cleaning...

How Is Your March Pump Performing

In my opinion use the pump to move from mash tun to kettle. That way you can keep your mash tun nice and low where you can easily mash in, stir and check temps-it's the only vessel that you really do much hands on stuff with so make it easy to use. You can also see the water level on top of the...

How Is Your March Pump Performing

Steve, have a look at all the breweries posted on both this site and all the american sites as well eg. Brewboard: http://www.brewboard.com/index.php?showforum=2 Brews and Views in the gallery section: http://hbd.org/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi Plenty on Barleys too...

    March Pump Set-up?

You can shut the output off completely and it won't hurt the pump. Open the valve to your required flow. It's infinitely variable, and being magnetically coupled won't hurt it one bit. That's why we are using the mag drive pumps and not fixed impeller pumps, couple that with the sealless design.

    Free Copy Of Zymurgy

Ha ha, you'll note I'm on here a lot too. While not in the PS I waste an aweful lot of time on here. You beat me on this one though. Enjoy it, I'm only being silly. Cheers mate.

How Is Your March Pump Performing

You can get one from Process Pumps in Melbourne Steve. There are some threads on it on here somewhere. I'd call them directly instead of trying to rely on PMing SpecialK as it seems some others seem to do. Anyway, on the mounting plate issue. I built a very simple one that just needed 5 holes...

    High Fg - Consistently

Throwing it out is a little unnecessary given you know it's 3 degrees out. Mark it or stick a label on it so you know which one it is and then always add 3 degrees to the reading. Most thermometers aren't that accurate as we are all finding out here. I have a couple of lab ones that seem to be...

    Peter Brock Rip

Bugger. If it's true then that's a sad bit of news. Just reinforces the fact that you never know when your gonna go. So maybe we better all drink our stocks of beer this weekend cause who knows if we'll be here on Monday to finish em.

    Electric Hlt

As Batz states, if you want an accurate measure and accurate control you'll have to stir.

    Purchasing A Gas Bottle

I do always like to recommend the search function, but I do have to be honest the thing drives me friggin nuts. Maybe it's just me but can't get the bloody thing to work properly 90% of the time and nearly every search enquiry I put in turns up an error. I can't blame people for just posting...

    Foaming Keg

Sounds like it is still over carbonated. Keep bleeding off gas until your pressure levels get right down (~100kPa or less) when you leave the keg alone to equilibrate with the head space. JMO here but, while it must work quite well for people using the Ross method of carbonating, if your beer...

    High Fg - Consistently

All good advice so far. Thermometer accuracy is well worth checking. Also, might be worth your while to find out exactly what malt they are using. It could be a very dextrinous malt that the brewery normally cuts with some sugar to pull the FG down a bit. Some of the older malts (not sure how...

Barley Crushers At Grain And Grape

I'd love to see Grain and Grape get on board with sponsorship with this site. Be good to see the banner up top. They've been great for us Tassie boys, fast shipping and good gear and most certainly on the up as the leading brewshop in Australia IMO. Will we see an Aussie morebeer? I...

    Anyone Ever Got Into Trouble

LOL! :P  Of course I do. Not. I never said I that "I" took the moral high ground. But honestly, if I was to do it again I would certainly use the pots, and I may even change anyway. I was wasn't prepared to make the outlay at the start but in hind sight I'd happily blow $300 for a couple...

    Anyone Ever Got Into Trouble

I don't think it will make today tonight either but I'm just concerned that on this site you probably have in excess of 200 kegs being put to use, a number which will only continue to grow as others follow suit. I'm just thinking that breweries may try to make an example of someone so that word...
