Cool, sounds all good then. Hope it goes well. A truly great yeast. Brent

The yeast may show sluggish tendancies for the last 80% of the ferment but should still fire propperly in a starter even if it does have a tiny visual krausen. What happens when you give the starter a swirl?? You should still see a good outgassing. How long since you pitched the culture to...

Cost of acrylic on the work junk pile- gratis Cost of tinkering in the shed on a Saturday morning minimal. Cost of equipment to cut it- hundreds Playing with your own tool at the end .. Priceless. vlbaby, I believe your Swartz is bigger than mine.... :o That's tops

Yes Lexan is a proprietary name for Polycarbonate as is Perspex for acrylic. As for strength if it too tight... It is 8mm acrylic which is a hell of alot stronger than the 2mm webs it pushes on the lid. What feels 'too tight' by hand is not much when you have a bit more mechanical advantage...

3/8 Drill, holesaw, bandsaw and 12 disk sander (yes I made that myself too..) I did the prototype with a drill and jigsaw and it works OK too. Cheers Brent

I know you can buy something to do up the lids on the cubes/jerry cans we use for No-chill.... ... but after nearly tearing my thunmbnail off the other night when trying to undo one and it suddenly letting go, I decided to make one. So here's my effort and it works quite nicely. Brent

What size are they?? I made mine at 3/32 (2.4mm) after seeing that all the ones the seppo's sell are 3/32 on 5/32 centres. FWIW I get a bit of 'germ' through at the beginning and end of running but rarely a husk. Cheers Brent

    Show Me Your Bottom.

I made mine.... from scratch. It works quite well and was the right price.. I won't tell you how many holes I drilled through that stainless but it was somewhere between 1847 and 1849... Ahh the pain Brent

    Ss Hosing - Problems?

Sounds dumb but check your tap (and t piece)..... Nothing like a ball of snot in there to slow thing up, particularly if it's a necked down small bore job. All it takes is an edge to start gathering crud and it may build up. Unlikely but possible. Do you backflush the whole lot when cleaning...

    What are you brewing?

Makes one think the WL version is a bit different to the Wyeast one. Mine ( from a pup from warrens wyeast pack) chewed it's way down to 1004 over 4 weeks. The last week or so was very slow but still working. From memory the OG was in the mid 1050's. I never had to go past 30 deg though. My...
