    Whats In The Glass

You know something is wrong when the mikkeller tripel you had is no where near as good as your own saison.

    Curry Recipes

I have always wanted to make a decent Biryani at home but have always expected to to be painfully laborious. I can tell you now from experience, its one of the easiest meals to prepare you just have to be willing to wait 45 mins for it to cook. A set and forget one pot wonder (if you re-use...

    Diy Computer-fan Stir-plate Build

Except the speed controller is redundant after i noticed on the packaging it controls 12V down to 5V(if only the listing told us that.) given the USB connector is 5V directly driving all components. Cannot be used even as a switch. :(

    Boil Times 60-90 Minutes.

Im not disregarding anything regarding MHB's post. I agree entirely with all of his statements so far. I was covering an angle for boiling 90 minutes purely to reduce DMS and not taking into account any other variables (as majority of homebrewers get told boil for 90 mins to reduce DMS and...

    Boil Times 60-90 Minutes.

Based on the amount of SMM precursor residual in most modern day malts, the DMS produced and driven off in the boil and fermentation you will find in most instances the residual DMS is just shy of the average sniffers threshold. Based on this, majority of worts will suffice with a 60 minute...

Thunder Rd Goes After The Big Boys

I'm taking about the underlying 'i don't give a **** what anyone thinks' arrogant bastard brand approach they have seem to have had since day dot. (Not all stones products/enterprises follow this philosophy).

Thunder Rd Goes After The Big Boys

This is not anything like a BUL project. BUL is contracting a 3rd party to produce their product in another geographical location to ensure the quality and cost of their product is available globally and is not compromised by the effect of shipping their product 1/2 way around the globe. There...

Thunder Rd Goes After The Big Boys

Hate to sound like a naysayer but i tend to agree with the spokesperson from CUB. Taking someone else's intellectual property (even if its just a TM name) and reviving a product under the false pretence that it is the beer that was produced several decades ago now by another brewery for profit...

    Diy Computer-fan Stir-plate Build

I've been eye balling those speed controllers for a few weeks now and decided its time to trick up my stir-plate to MKII so I can properly handle 2L starters. My current stir plate set-up in a jaycar jiffy box throws the bar at low speeds and can be a pain when you set it up overnight to wake up...

    Storing Fermented Beer Safely

oxidation will be the biggest killer of these beers, secondary to the chance of an infection arising from too many transfers IMO. if push came to shove and i had to do this, I'd follow my normal fermentation regime, after crash chilling for 1 week I'd transfer to the jerry with minimal oxygen...

    Refractometer Reading Differs

Same boat. I got a Refrac to read Brix/Plato, not SG. ;)

    Refractometer Reading Differs

Now that, is strange. They are always identical for me, I take my OG reading from fermenter and as a sanity check and also check the refrac reading from the hydro vial at the same time and they are the same (within 1 sg point.). mind you i have a standard 30 brix refrac and i convert the...

    Refractometer Reading Differs

Are the samples you're reading from homogeneous wort? E.g. you haven't used wort at flameout with a lid on it dropping 0 brix condensed evaporation onto the wort post whirlpool and taking a pipette reading from the distillate? I always take my flame out reading just before I knock-out the...

    What Are You Brewing III

i just dry hopped my amber ale with summit, amarillo and centennial as well as a hop tea. Smelt delicious! :icon_drool2: I decided the hops were too good to waste from the tea so they also went into the mash of the IPA above. :icon_cheers:

    What Are You Brewing III

Just ramping to Maltose rest now. First beer with summit. Interested to know the profile. All hops are fresh yakima valley hops. I dropped a handful of cascade on the bench when resealing/splitting my 1lb packet of cascade. Ended up as mash hops. B) Im currently fermenting an amber ale...
