Biab#2 How Much Can A/g Beer Change With Time?

You only fermented for a week?

    Pilsner Vs Pale Ale

Learned something today. I have always used Pale Malt in my Hefes and Wits. Fairly certain that the dry and liquid extract is made with pale (or "base malt") and wheat malts.

    Galvanised Steel In Mlt

I was thinking welding wire. If the weld is good enough to brew on, then the wire should be. Always could get some stainless tubing and drill a bunch of holes in it. Put that inside the braid and away you go. Lots of good options besides steel coated with zinc. I bet you may even be able to...

    Galvanised Steel In Mlt

Why take the chance when you can get Stainless wire? I bet he will end up with Rust at the least.

    Pot Ruined?

Put the probe where the tap is and add a pick-up tube to the tap. The tube should help protect the probe from getting snagged on the bag, and no more tipping the kettle to get the last drop. Dont forget to say thank you dear and buy her a nice gift in return. I also would also make sure she...

    "boiling" A Kit? Confused!

Well, will fog it up a bit. Take some table sugar and dissolve it in water. Then do the same and use boiling hot water. Cover the 2 containers and let set on the kitchen counter. See which one clouds up first. Fun science experiment. I will always boil repacked malt syrup or any dry...

Don't Like Lagers, What's Wrong With Me?

A great Stout with that big Steak off the grill, a baked potato, and a fresh garden salad. What could be better then that on a hot summer day?

Don't Like Lagers, What's Wrong With Me?

I have tasted some award winning Pilsners at the old club competitions. Don't care for them. Just an odd taste to me. If you do not like them don't drink them. Keep sampling as some day your taste may change.

Cold Conditioning And The Air Lock

If it is filled correctly it should not drain in the beer. I like the s type because they will not drain back. The cup type can depending on the design.

    Dry Hopping Efficiency With Flowers

Just rock it a bit or stick a racking cane in and break them up a bit. They float because that is what they do. You could try a hop tea if floating flowers bothers you.

    Extreme Gypsum Addition

Based on all I have read the printed water profiles for places like Burton are bunk. A balanced approach to additions is a better way to go. That does require reading and understanding how to balance them out. I dont think using Burton salts will hurt anything, however I do think a bit of...

Grinding Grains Finer For Better Biab Efficiency?

I do not grind finer, however I do run it through the store mill 2 times. I seem to get less whole grains and intact husks that way. When I brew with raw wheat, I soak the grain and run it through a food mill/meat grinder and get a grainy mash of wheat that way.

Setting Up A 50 Litre Keg For Biab

When I think of a FB I think of a hop screen or hop stopper or whatever you want to call it. No need to have any other gadget in a kettle. Sorry for the mix up of terms.

    Going To America

If you are saying you are getting to stash it in with other freight and not paying, I would look at any kind of brewing gear that is way expensive in OZ. Things like the little O2 cylinders and the regulators. Lots of things I can not remember that you pay way more then we do in the USA. For...

Setting Up A 50 Litre Keg For Biab

Not sure why all the advice on not using a FB for BIAB. I am still using a racking cain to transfer. I would think a FS would make it easier to get all the wort out and leave the gunk behind (hot break and hops).

    Double Batch Biab Mash Vol?

Double batch is double batch. The only volumes that will not change are your losses to equipment, your boil off will be about the same as a single batch also. Losses to trub and grain absorption will be related to the increase in grain bill. If you are using a good program or spread sheet it...

So it fermented for a week then you dry hopped it?

'freshening Up' Grain In The Oven?

Once grain is cracked it starts to stale or go rancid. I do not think you can reverse the process by heating it up. Malted grain stales faster then unmalted grain.

    Boil

Actually been talked about quite a lot. Just hard to find anything using the forum search. What the last person said. My idea of a rolling boil is just enough to keep things moving. If you are adding hops the bag or loose hops should be able to move around. If you are using a hop bag, it...

Accidental Overpriming: Which Bottles Can Handle It?

Someone already stole my smart comment. I have found that if you look at the caps you will see the center poop up as they prime. The ones with lots of pressure will be very high. This is just a reference for the future. I agree you should burp them. What I have done in the past is either...
