    Help with hops

Or just the 25g of Cascade. Doesn't hurt in the beginning to get a feel for what an individual hop brings to a brew and Cascade is a proven performer. Either way the difference in the end result will leave you gobsmacked.

Need a Two Can recipe please

Hey Tommy I haven't kegged anything above 5% ABV, and that was a mistake. I try to limit my kegged beer to 4.4% as I don't believe I can stop at just two  If you can show restraint I'm sure it would go down alright, probably still going to need 6months from FG to first pout though.

What can of IPA and hops for first brew?

Hey bmashall I haven't tried any of those beers so take my advice with a grain of salt. I have used the Coopers IPA(hopped extract) kit three times and all of these were very satisfying craft beers. As for NZ hops I dry hopped one of these brews with 50g of Moteuka and it was pretty good. For...

Need a Two Can recipe please

Yeah, if you are in a hurry for a beer best not go here, as I said it ages well.

Need a Two Can recipe please

Hey Beeman Combining those two cans is the starting point for a Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale. All you need do is add 1 kg of Dextrose and top up to 21 litres. Pitch both kit yeasts and Dry Hop with 30g of Nelson Sauvin. It packs a punch so you won't wanna be tucking into them at too great a...

Do anybody recommend a KIT for my second experience ?

Hey Marcus My three favourite kits were all Coopers; IPA, APA and EB. The simplest and one of the best kit brews I did was my Stella IPA: 23litres Coopers IPA can LDM 750g Dex 150g Crystal 120 400g (steeped at 65oC for 30 minutes) Boil volume 6 litres at 1.040SG Ella hop pellets 10g boiled for...

    Stone & Wood Pacific Ale

I really should have a go at that original recipe, except that I love the one that I amped up a bit. Had a crack at it twice, and both times I dry hopped for two weeks plus. I have the passionfruit and I have been lucky enough not to get the Banana skins that Nick speaks of. Both times my hop...

    2nd Brew with notes.

Hey ithinkimlost I have to agree with the other blokes about 60 minute boils with a kit. You should pick a kit that should put you roughly where you want to be in regards to bitterness and then use the hps to give you flavour and aroma. That being said when using kits I would not go higher than...

    Wheat beer recipe

I am easlly confused, but I hope I haven't confused Chull. The OP was asking for a Wheat Beer recipe, not sepcifcally a Witbier or Weifsbier. I thought they were both Wheat Beers. bradsbrew suggested a Witbier and as the OP said he didn't mind a boil I suggested to Corriander and orange peel. I...

    Wheat beer recipe

Thanks Nick JD The missus got mine from Natures Works. They were whole seeds but the pack says product of Australia. Anyway they were certainly citrus/pine smell when cracking them open. Will keep this in mind because I love Hoegaarden and will be trying hard to emulate it.

    First timer

I will admit that after reading through Nick JD's post again that even I could follow the $30 AG process. Good luck Anteek, which ever way you go.

    First timer

Hey Anteek I get what mrTbeer and PeteQ are saying, and having never tried AG beer I can't dispute "if you want quality beer". You asked the question about AG so I assume you have the resources (money, time and ability) to proceed at a timely rate and produce a good beer first up. Personally I...

Vote for your favourite beer style?

Based on the results I turned out as Mr Average, although I didn't do the sums to confirm this. More like I'm with the high outrider in both divisions.

    Wheat beer recipe

Hey Chull If you are keen to do a whitbier as bradsbrew suggests then you will need a few add ons. I've got a full extract whitbier on the go at the minute, granted it's 3kg of WME. Unlike bradsbrew I'd leave out the super alpha, there is enough bitterness in the can. Just as B1nOry suggested...

Hi all, new to brewing, and i have a question too!

Hey Troy I would be careful around those bottles, hopefully you have bottled into PET. I say this because 1.019 would be way too high for the Coopers Lager kit and you say yours finished higher. Potential bottle bombs, if you have bottled into glass I would be putting a blanket over them and...

    K&K Fermentation/Kegging time

I have six kegs in rotation so I am never in that big of a hurry to drink my beer. Therefore I leave it in the FV for a minimum of 2 weeks sometimes 3. Sure your beer will clear in the keg (or the bottle for that matter) but if the beer is clearing in the FV surely all the by-poducts of this...

    The malty Mexican

:icon_offtopic: I have a serious case of deja vu. Hang on, I reiterate what manticle said. I will add though that if you are not confident doing a lager then use US05 and ferement at 18oC. Being the Cervesa kit it won't be bitter and you should get a good handle on what the Saaz hop will...

    Cloudy at end of pour

Yeah I never had cloudiness issues with my bottled brews. Most often they aged for three months in a cupboard and then went into the fridge. Always stored upright, and the yeast sedimnet always contained in the last 10mm. I would swirl this last 10mm around and drink it from the bottle :chug:

Adjusting Hydrometer for Temperature and Dodginess

Hey cremmerson wbosher is correct. The way I understand it isn't dodginess but Coopers made them read this way deliberatley so that you can snip off some of the red tip to calibrate it. Be careful though you can't stick pieces back on. I cut 20mm (in 4-5mm steps) from mine and now it is spot on...
