    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

Finally got to try Bell's 2 hearted ale. It was a very good, if not mundane IPA. The yank beers are so ahead of Australian craft breweries it's stupid. I only need to try Pliny the Younger and Heady Topper and I have tried all the beers I want to. The burger is a triple coronary bypass...

    American Brown Ale. Which one?

Janet's Brown. Probably the beer with the tastiest mall bill I have ever brewed.

Another 'To Decoct or Not to Decoct thread'.. Lagers...

I reckon Noonan is right and in the past I used to have chill haze. I haven't had it since I have been employing a 55 degree rest for 10 mins and building my water from RO. Better head retention and lacing as well. inb4 you don't need a Protein rest and can brew awesome beer with tap water...

    Whats In The Glass

Blind triangle taste test with my Hefe, Weihenstephaner and the Burleigh Brewing Hefe. I picked mine as the best, then the weihenstephaner (would love to try it fresh) and a distant 3rd was the burleigh brewing hefe. When I was tasting it I hoped to hell it wasn't mine because it was so...

Dedicated Herms Guide, Problems And Solution Thread

Nope. That's how I have mine setup, with the probe on the outlet of the HEX coil. I also run the recirculation flat out with a March AC-3CP-MD and the temperature at the mash return is exactly the same as the PID. Measured with a Thermopen :) I recommend the Auber PID's and the good probes...

    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

When I was there I asked if they used a different strain for bottling. Steve Dressler said no, granted that was in regards to the Pale Ale. I imagine the wheat would be the same.

Mt Tamborine (Brisbane region) Brewery review

Yeah it was definitely an IPA, called something like Tippy IPA? Anyway it was *********.

Mt Tamborine (Brisbane region) Brewery review

Went here yesterday. I had the burger, which was big and good, didn't have to have dinner I was that full from it. The beer......Had the Belgian Blonde and the IPA. The Belgian Blonde was OK, certainly no where near a Leffe Blonde in terms of anything. The IPA was the worst IPA I had ever...

    Mexican Cooking

Mexican food, super overrated I think. I just got back from travelling around that part of the world for 10-11 months, was more a fan of the chicken, rice and beans down Nicaragua way. El Salvador Papusas (spelling?) where cheap and delicious though. Got well over anything corn based after a...

Nah just got back, brought 2 bottles of that, one of Green Flash - Palate Wrecker and one of Lagunitas - Hop stoopid. All from the breweries.

    Going to California.

OK, bit of an update, will post pics when I get back, been super blazed and drunk so motivation hasn't been high to upload photos. I'm in San Diego now and have done a bulk of the breweries down here. Top 3 tours where in reverse order, Green Flash. Cool beers, cool brewery and pretty lively...

    Going to California.

Waiting for Lagunitas to open now for the tour, then Russian River tonight. Here's some photos from Firestone Walker. Their barleywine was awesome, best beer i've had for a while.

    Going to California.

OK, did the tour at Firestone Walker today and will upload photos soon. All the beers there were excellent. The tour was good as well. Tomorrow it's Lagunitas and Russian River. Will try and be more vigilant on the photos.

Did get comments about my strangeness for taking photos of the beer fridge whilst giggling like a school girl.

    Going to California.

Ok, First half of the day here. First pic is of my breakfast on Venice Beach and also the choice of beer I had for breakfast. The 3rd is of the menu at the Venice Ale house. Arrogant bastard was scarily similar to the one I brewed, I think it was the first brew on my 4v Herms, so mine was...

    Going to California.

OK, in between kiteboarding and getting drunk in Dominican Republic I have drafted up a rough plan for my Californian pilgrimage. 13th-15th Los Angeles. Will visit Eagle Rock Brewery, The Bruery, Beachwood BBQ & Brewery, Angel City Brewery and Golden Road Brewering. In addition will do all...

    Going to California.

Good info, I'll be there from the 12th to the 22nd. So I will miss out on the February events and the release of Pliny the Younger :( I will also ring up about the beer geek tour at SN today, I have a couchsurfing host lined up for Chico so going up there is a definite! It's only a few days...
