No-chill... just leave in the urn?

I've been doing NC for a bit now due to lack of time. I use one of the food grade willow units from Kmart, cleared with starsan and ensure I pitched within 24 hours. I also ensure to use food grade tape on the threads of the unit to ensure sealing (can squeeze out oxygen with legs while doing up...

    STAR SAN!

Depends on what you want to do with it. I've only used starsan for home enviroments, and I'd never use anything else. First and foremost, the lids on the bottles fail quickly. I think this is due to the plastic itself used for the lids. Either way, I replace mine with caps from coke bottles...

    Braumeister - Tips & Tricks

While I don't use the 50L version I'd assume it would just use the usual crossbar on the shorter malt pipe to secure it as per the other malt pipe usage. Though I would guess someone with a 50L will chime in shortly and confirm or correct.

    Pin Lock Kegs & Poppets

Thanks for that, great info! The Pin Lock's do vary somewhat from the ball locks though on some types. I'll save that though for the ball lock kegs in case they need parts. Never even seen that shop before, I love it! Thanks. I guess the other option is to just convert the posts to ball lock...

    Pin Lock Kegs & Poppets

I need to replace the dip tube O-rings on my kegs and the ones I grabbed from a LBS just don't fit despite assurances they would. I've had a look around though find it a bit tricky to find someone with all the parts in stock. Can anybody help me out or know the ID's of the rings? Would love to...

In line aerator, anyone tried this?

Hmm i'd love an inline carbonator though!

    Braumeister Jacket - Better Boil?

I don't find the boil stronger with the BM jacket, though it does get to temps quicker. Even more so on cold, windy days. It has the added benefit of giving protection to the main vessel too. I too find the boil coming from one side, as above. Though, upon reading it, makes sense to me. Both...

Never get tired of that. Clear every single batch!

1st Brew On Braumeister - Pics

I've had various runs with lid, partial lid, no lid etc for trial and error. I think if I did a boil at the normal 101c/102c I do them at, with the BM jacket on and lid on 2/3 or full then it would boil over. Lid off, jacket on the boil is ferocious.

    Glass Carboys

Thank you for the reply. I've looked around, and checked some out. They're not entirely what i'm looking for after seeing the ones in the states. For the meantime I was thinking of something like this http://www.esbrewing.com.au/carboy-fermenter-30-litre.html Though I don't need them ported wth...

    Glass Carboys

Hello all. I'm looking to get some new fermenters and would like to go with glass carboys. I've used a glass one in the past with a friend, then later a better bottle (which got melted). Looking around for somewhere to buy them from in Sydney. For the most part I can only find 5gal ones, no...

    wheat in braumeister

I've no issues with large % wheat bills. I find if anything letting it hydrate in on the mash in cycle for a good 10 - 15 mins makes all the difference prior to stir and program start.

    Star-san replacement....

I don't get it. Starsan is a fine product, and lasts ages. What sort of budget reduction issue do you have to need to find a cheaper like product?

    Keter Folding Work Table 17182239

A while ago I was searching for a load rated work table that would do my brewing needs (and thanks to those who gave me some great ideas!), but remain inner city friendly. Well, after a half dozen batches, the Keter table is working a treat. It costs a damn sight more in Australia than in the...

Who Left the Hops Out? (Who Who Who)

Sounds ideal for a dirty saison. Stick some in the microwave too just to get it going proper.

Can You Buy Grain Already Ground?

Of course you can. Some places even sell pre cracked bags of it. Is it as good? No. It's shelf life is less than uncracked grain, though it may not have an impact on your beer. If possible get your grain cracked per order. Many companies offer it, i often use CB or MHB. Cracked per order to...

    Home Brew On A Plane

As above, put them in checked baggage. Sealed containers, wrapped tightly and in airtight & watertight bags. Some variety of description or info on them may be a good idea too. Less you get pulled up at the other end. If your luggage is transfering planes midway be aware liquids may be stopped &...

    Ebay, Gumtree and FB Marketplace

Hmmm it's a one way, one use keg. Though...it may have some use. If i was close i'd get it.

    Forgot To Rinse Sanitizer.

I would ditch it myself. Then buy something like Starsan and do it that way forever more. I would fail to understand how something that needs to be flushed (with what i can only assume is not inert sanitary fluid) can be used as a sanitiser in the first place.

Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Harvest Ale

The $3 gage roads is amazing, more so the IPA. I don't think they are clearing gage roads. They bought the majority share, and production in the brewing system. Maybe a line deletion, or below price intro. They will continue to feature, no doubt.
