    Pneumatic Bottle Capper

That looks very cool... If you could work out a way to load the caps automatically, then it would be even easier!

    Welding And Drilling Ss Pots

Yes, more to come... 3 x 98 Litre SS pots :) They are bigger than they look in the pic! Gas seleniod had been tested and works nicely. Just need to wire it up to the Ranco temp controller for the HLT. The burners are the 23 jet mongolians from Grain and Grape.

    Welding And Drilling Ss Pots

I've got weldless thermometers at the moment and am not too happy as I get small leaks. I figure that I'll be keeping this new setup for many years, so it's worth the hassle of finding a good welder.

    Welding And Drilling Ss Pots

Hey all, I've just aquired a couple of big SS pots for my HLT and Kettle. However I want to get a few 1/2" sockets welded in for tap/thermomenter/HERMS coil/Sight Glass etc... Can anyone recommend a pro in Melbourne who can do this for me? Thanks

    Co2, N & Mixed Gasses

Most pubs use a mix so they can run higher keg pressures for long lines with out over carbonating the beer. As nitrogen doesn't easily disolve in beer compared to co2.

    Co2, N & Mixed Gasses

I've got an Airliquide co2/nitrogen mix bottle and the std co2 regulator fits fine.

    Burner Dilemma?

I've got a mongolian, and am just in the process of setting it up. Puts out heaps more heat than my old 4 ring, and doesn't make too much noise. I've see a turnkey burner going before and they are quite loud. You can adjust the flame a bit, but you will get some yellow, as to how much soot that...

    Thermoelectric Mashtun Idea

Personally I reckon a HERMS system would be a lot simpler to build and more effective. With the PELTS you will probably get hot spots where the grain contacts the plates. Might work better if you had a metal mash tun and had them attached to the outside rather immersing them in an esky.

Which Way To Go Herms, Rims Or Gravity

Umm, I dunno about where you live, but in Melbourne I can't remember ever having a power failure longer than a few minutes and even that's a very rare thing. It's not going to be long enough to ruin a batch anyway. Not saying pumps are without their issues, but power failures are not really...

Which Way To Go Herms, Rims Or Gravity

I started doing AGs about a year ago, and have used a really simple 3 tier gravity setup using an old table, wooden box and a burner with a stand on the ground :) You will have no problems making some great beer on this type of setup. Now I'm in the process of making a single tier HERMS setup...

    Crankandstein Choices

Sheaves? Any issues using 1/2" with a drill to start with? Or is it too big? SS seems like the go, will last forever.

    Crankandstein Choices

Looks sweet... I am about to order a 3D myself... Just trying to work out the pros/cons of the 1/2" shaft v std 3/8" shaft???

    Problem With Taps In Fridge.

I think you can use a CO2/Nitrogen mix to help this situation. The nitrogen lets you then run a higher pressure without over carbonating the beer, this is because nitrogen isn't easily absorbed into the beer compared to CO2.

    Stainless Conicals

Yeah, I guess it would be easier if you were welding the cone to the cylinder like in Hoops pics, or can you source a single piece for this?

    Stainless Conicals

Post more pics for us to drool over if you've got any :P BTW where was this one made? Perhaps they would be interested in a bulk deal???

    Stainless Conicals

That's dead sexy! What's the knob on the cone for? Where did you get it made? Does it have a cooling jacket?
