Thanks! I think I have been out to the garage to look at it about 10 times in the last few hours......

    Show us your brewrig

After 5 years of homebrewing, 95 batches ranging from K+K, kits and bits, stovetop partial, stovetop BIAB I have finally graduated to 'proper' AG brewing. I was never in a hurry to graduate as I have young kids, managed a few medals at the Nats with partials/BIAB, but I finally took the leap...

How to add permanent volume markings to a kettle.

Just finished my kettle. I was going to try and cut a stencil out of contact but thought that getting it on straight would be a right pain. Ended up taping with green tape, seemed to work fine.

How to add permanent volume markings to a kettle.

Just finished electro etching my new urn HLT. I used a variable voltage powerpack from the school science lab (I am a teacher), leads, aligator clips and the usual method described in this thread (although I bumped up the salt concentration slightly). I ended up marking the volumes relative to...

    Lecterfan is back!

Almost identical to my new setup, but still at the putting together/calibration stage. I really don't enjoy this bit, too stressful as I am scared I will do a tap up wrong or something. How did you go getting tap through bung hole of techniice esky?

    Instant Light Beer!

Hey Bribie, What was the Carlton in QLD sold as? Being a boy who grew up on the border of NSW/VIC most taps were Carlton Draught/VB/Tooheys.

    Instant Light Beer!

I think most of us would appreciate a guardian angel/cellarman/better half/bartender that started watering down the drinks after the 6th one............

    Instant Light Beer!

I am sure someone has already thought of this but a quick forum search turned up nothing. Recently I setup a keg of soda water, chilled rain water from my tank force carbed at 30PSI, left for a couple of hours, and then hooked up at serving pressure (12PSI). The results have been awesome, very...

    Foam pouring keg

If you have had kegs pour OK before its likely to be overcarbed. To fix it you can do it: Slow Way - Keep venting the head space as often as you can over the next couple of days until its basically flat. Hook up gas and be patient (my kegs tend to carb at that temp and pressure in about 4-5days...

    Foam pouring keg

Dirty carbonated = force carbonated? If so how? When you say degassed you mean vented headspace? What are you line lengths/taps/regulator pressure etc?

    1st Lager, so now what?

Are you kegging or bottling? If kegging I would put it in the keg warm, then get it down to 2degC (ie in the keg fridge) and leave it for as long as you can stand it. If bottling maybe bottle warm, wait for them to carb up, then store cold. You can cold crash before doing either of these...

    Whats In The Glass

Its hot and this beer is going down a treat. Watermelon Wheat beer, US style wheat brewed with WY1010 and then a whole load of watermelon juice into secondary. Watermelon comes through just enough to give a fruity sweet edge but the beer itself shines. Apologies for the girly (but obligatory)...

    Problems with aeration

Another quick and dirty option is to use aquarium stones. They are plastic, cheap and hence disposable (I go through one about 10-15 brews) when they get skanky. As a filter I rigged up a small sample tube into which I put cotton wool soaked in Starsan. I bought a fancy stainless jobby and an...
