Post me your best Asahi recipe pls..

Yeah you may need to account for temp of rice. Or you could calculate strike temp based on grain only and add rice once its cooled to mash temp.

my kegs have less hop flavour

Do you mean air into the fermenter? I wouldn't worry about that, your drawing beer from the bottom and there will always be some left in the fermenter, I dont think this will pose a risk really.

    KK Grainmill or Mashmaster

Both result in beer. The MM is better made with more accurate adjustment and fluted rollers and is likely to last longer and resell for more. It also costs twice as much.

All Grain Efficiency Very Low - What am I doing wrong

Actually your numbers are all off, You state that pre boil volume was 28L, 24.5 ended up in the fermenter and 4L of kettle loss. 28 - 24.5 - 4 = -0.5, so you somehow managed to gain half a litre during the boil... I think your measurements are off by quite a bit somewhere in your system. You...

Is anyone else going to look for something on Amazon when they launch tomorrow?

How many sandwiches do you eat? Haha this one is on sale, bargain! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HT-4-Fast-Tomato-Slicer-VALUE/192167370962?hash=item2cbe1160d2:g:~2AAAOSw42dZL7bH

All Grain Efficiency Very Low - What am I doing wrong

Doesnt look like the best grist. With it looking like that 60% efficiency is not a terrible result. I would definitely be making sure the your milling it fine enough. Also, if you add the 4L you are leaving in the kettle to the batch size, you are actually getting 70% mash efficiency. To...

    Clawhammer Brewing System

Shipping is 140USD to Perth. Takes the total cost to 989USD or about 1300AUD plus $130 GST on import would make it about 1430AUD landed. I think something like the Guten is better value personally.

You also dont need to use a round one. Normal style eskies are way easier to find at a reasonable price and are just as effective. Nice find though, wonder what they will go for... They are expensive new.

    Vaping

I prefer the rebuildable atomizers myself. I hate the idea of disposable coil housings. They use up so much more packaging and material. I also like the idea of having flexibility around coil resistance and design. I have a couple RTAs - Rebuildable Tank Atomizers. Its pretty easy to wind a...

Is anyone else going to look for something on Amazon when they launch tomorrow?

Or at least at first it will be a limited selection. The fact is, Australia doesn't have a big enough market for Amazon to store warehouses full of obscure items. I doubt it will ever be anything like in the US. It would be good if they can make shipping to Aus cheaper somehow, even if its slower.

my kegs have less hop flavour

Do you need headspace in the keg? What is the impact on carbonation time for a completely filled keg?

    Fermenting Under Pressure

I dont bother with a spunding valve for transfer. I attach the keg jumper, vent the kegmenter, attach gas and set pressure to 5 or so PSI. I use a fully purged receiving keg and just lock the PRV open. Little bit of foam comes through towards the end of the transfer, not much though. I just...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

Pretty much. There are 30L commercial kegs for sale in Perth on gumtree for $30. Considering converting some to kegmenters by cutting off the commercial disconnect and replacing it with a 4" tri clover ferrule. Have to go and see some steel fabrication places and get a quote for the...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

I don't cold crash so transfer at fermentation temps. usually takes 15-20mins as need to go pretty slow. I shortened the gas dip tubes so they sit flush with the inside of the keg, this helps prevent krausen getting pushed up it prematurely and stop actual wort getting pushed up it. Can fill...

    Help with IPA

Reducing the spec malts would help, or eliminating them altogether if its the hop you want to shine. As it stands you just needed more IBUs to cut through them a bit. I would be aiming for 70-80 IBU for a beer that's sitting at 7% ABV with quite a bit of caramalts, if you want the hops to have...

Converting a 50L keg for bright beer (or Fermenting) for $25 (plu

Is there somewhere you can get the 4" tri clover caps with ball locks like the lid for the kegmenter? Do keg king supply them? They aren't listed on their site. Alternatively I could get one of these and then drill it and fit these. Found this, a weldless/bulkhead style PRV, but it's super...

Post me your best Asahi recipe pls..

I haven't done one, but my understanding is its something like this... 2.5KG Pilsner Malt 0.2kg Carapils 1.0kg cooked unwashed rice (it can help if you break up/mill the rice before cooking it) 0.5kg rice hulls to counteract the sticky rice 35g Saaz @ 60mins 20g Saaz @ 15mins Target OG...
