    Something Smells Fishy

Went fishing when we where camping up the coast a few weeks ago in the school holidays (a place called Grassy Head, NSW ... just north of South West Rocks) ... and I caught this massive Bream in the river ;)

    No Headache...nice!

mentioned this discussion to a mate at work who used to brew alot with his dad ... his dad always told him it's because of the vitamins in the yeast ;)

    No Headache...nice!

my 2 cents worth to this thread is that I too have observed the absensce of a hangover after imbibing numerous home brews ... but with Aussie commercial beers ... even "premium" ones, a sore head is almost certain the next morning. something like a German Pilsner however has nowhere near the...

    Full Strength Beer?

Using Ianh's spreadsheet it tells me that a Coopers English Bittter kit (1.7kg) + 1.5kg of Light Dried Malt, a volume of around 18 litres will give an Alc% of around 6% http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum//ind...st&id=33513 I have made this brew twice now & it is very tasty for such a simple...

    Simple Kit Recipe

forgot to mention, in terms of yeast I have US-05, S-04, Morgans Ale Yeast, harvested from previous brews - ready to make into a starter and a couple of longnecks of Coopers Sparkling which I am very willing to drink in order to collect the yeast from the bottom to turn into a starter being a...

    Simple Kit Recipe

Hi guys, I presently have sitting in my brew pantry one Coopers Australian Pale ale kit, and 1.5kg of liquid wheat malt (bought it accidentally at CB when i meant to get light liquid malt). I am thinking of simply dumping them both in the fermenter, topping up to 20L and fermenting. The basic...

    Bulk Priming Question

I am down to the last six pack of this brew ... very enjoyable English Bitter. Last weekend I kicked off another batch of this, exactly the same except this time I used the kit yeast & kept the temp no lower than 20c when main fermentation was happening (first batch got down around 17-18c) ...

Low Carb Not A Healthy Beer Option, Doctor Warns

Could the topic closer be: "So called low-carb mass marketed beers taste like crap and we dont' give a **** about them anyway" ? Then we can all get on with talking about brewing something decent B)

Re the Coopers brewing sugar ... do you know those proportions as a fact? I have been trying to find this out for a few weeks. TIA.

    20l Willow Containers

I use one for bulk priming & as there is no sediment in the bottom when doing this I just tilt the container when I am getting low so I can bottle all but a few drops out of it. I have also had the thought of filling it with water and chilling it a day or two before brewing - especially if I...

    ...is Fail!

I was inside, but managed to mop it up before my wife got home! :) By the time she was home there where just a few damp spots on the tiles ... of course I got asked "What's that?!?" and I stressed it was just plain water... got away with it. The rest of the brew went well - done in pretty good...

    Hansa Pils

I'm making my way through a case of Hansa Pils at the moment (I know the bottles are thin, but I like bottling in 500ml)... anyway, as I am drinking them I naturally start to try and define the flavours I am tasting ... and realise I am pretty bad at defining flavours ... it's a bit like art...

    The Efficient Waiter.

A couple where dining at a new restraunt in town and over the course of their meal they noticed one waiter in particular who was always on the ball, almost as if he was one step ahead of everyone all the time. When it came for coffee and desert the man at the table dropped his teaspoon before he...

Kit & Kilo Report: Tooheys Dark Ale

Yes I am pretty sure it was done... I wasn't sure at first, that's the reason I racked it to a secondary after a week ... moved it to a warmer part of the house (from 20c to about 24c) and it dropped from 1025 to 1023 and didn't drop any further. Bottled mid December. My bottles didn't explode...

    Dry Hopping & Infections

Newb observation here, but here goes... How is an infection going to get in? 1. Infected hops? (have never heard of that happening, but I guess it is a possibility - esp if you don't store them correctly) 2. unsanitsied utensils ... if you are going to use a spoon or pouch to put the hops in...
