    Wy 2206 sluggish start?

I am brewing a schwarzbier which has been at 1020 now for a week even after I raised temp to 12C. Any hope it will finish off to ~1010? Main mash rest was at 67C for 45 minutes. I am currently planning to pitch an active 0.5L starter with SafLager on Sun to get FG down.

Cheers! I might go that way after learning that unbending and ruining the ice box of a $50 gumtree fridge still sets me back $50. :D

    Bar fridge freezer removal

Bending was my thinking - so it has been done before -- lock garage and be finished by dinner time. :) Any advice about how to not get it wrong? What about these... cooling bumps... anything in there that needs special care?

    Bar fridge freezer removal

Hi Anybody ever done something like this? Mechanically freezer box should be movable but I guess it is often the main hex element... Any ideas how to make these 120l things into a 2 keg kegerator? Cheers V

    Wy 2206 sluggish start?

Hi all This might have been answered elsewhere but... I pitched a 25l batch with slurry of a stepped starter last sunday. Starter was smack pack in 2 l for 2 days, 24hours chill and decant; times 2. Pitched at 11C, fermenting at 9. After 5 days gravity is down from 46 to 30ish. This is my...

    brew overflowing during fermentation

+1 for this approach. Started trying to prevent this recently by swirling the fermenter twice a day to reduce the krausen. Has worked well on two batches so far both with German ale. What I am wondering though is whether there could be flavor I,pacts from this technique?

Dedicated Herms Guide, Problems And Solution Thread

I have been wondering how much of a problem the actual heat exchange would be. I looked at some simple heat exchange models and they suggest you can easily reach surrounding temps in a few seconds which would be the time in the exchanger at pump rates at about 5 L per minute. So higher temps...

3068 starter need a lot of head space?

Cheers guys! I think I will go with letting it sit for some longer then at 19C and possibly chill for a couple of days before bottling. This one will be rolled and served in the proper tall glass!

3068 starter need a lot of head space?

I made a Weizen 10 days ago with 3068; OG1050, 1L starter, pitched at 17C, fermented at 17C, big blow off into the lid... Was at 1.012 after 5 days and sits at about 19C since. Good banana and spiciness, something funny in the background though that I hope will vanish soon or with carb... What...

Jerman dog discovering biers in Perth

G'day all I 've been playing around with my AG setup for a while now after getting bored with kits. Growing up with boring straight beers like all these german pilsners, koelsch, altbier etc ale was a thrilling discovery for me in Oz :) Hoping to get some discussion here about my experiments -...
