Say It Isn't So. Little Creatures Owned By Tooheys?

I believe LN have a 40% share in Little World. And Little World have a 20% stake in Stone and Wood. I'm thinking Stone and Wood are looking to get a 10% share of a homebrewer. Look out for that one.

    July/aug '09 Zymurgy

I really like BYO, generally moreso than Zymurgy. That said, this months Zymurgy focuses on IPAs, so they hit a bit of a soft spot. Good to see Vinnie write an article on Double IPAs, some good points in there. Pity US hops are so damn expensive at the moment.

Would Horizon Hops Be Ok For A Maibock

Yep, Horizon is a good clean bittering hop, very low co-humulone levels for the alpha. Hopunion reccomend it as a substitute for Magnum, so you can't go wrong really. Cheers

Style Of The Week 9/8/06 - Bitter

Poor old Ringwood. I just want to give it a hug and let it know I understand. Speaking of the unloved yeasts, if anyone wants a British Ale II yeast there were a couple in the G&G $2 bin that came in smacked from the US about a week ago - still good for some bitter action.

Chest Freezer Fridge - 0.1 Kwh Per Day!

And bump. Anyone know the energy usages for a fridge running at standard fridge temp (say 3C), and serving temp (say 8C)? Just looking at a comparison here, trying to steal a fridge from my mum and justifing the savings to her. Cheers, Sam

Wild Beer From Culturing Yeast Off Malt?

We made a sourdough starter from just wheat and rye flour, and that's got a fair whack of bugs in it. I'm sure whatever it touches, it will turn sour. The breads great, but I haven't let it near a beer yet...

    Reculturing Mountain Goat Yeast

Actually, I believe they've switched from 1028 to dried (sounds like US-05), some time in late 07 or early 08. This would be across the board, except for their specialties. And from tasting the Hightail, I'm pretty sure it's got Cascade floating around in there somewhere. Sam

G'day Things are good, back in Vancouver, riding my pushi in the snow again, after a trip back to Melbourne for the festive season. Caught up with John and Chris a few times in the shop, the conference sounds like its going to be a pretty big thing. Shame I'm not going to be there. Hopefully...

    Oxygen Options In Australia?

I haven't looked at this in a little while, but as far as I know the easiest source of O2 in Aus is oxygen cylinders from Air Liquide or other gas providers. I still don't think there is any difference between medical grade and industrial grade oxygen apart from the cylinder itself, but happy...

What are you brewing II ?

Columbus has quickly become my favourite hop over here. It's good to see Craftbrewer is stocking it now, I was worried about how I was going to get it when back in Aus. There's an IPA I've been drinking a bit, Anderson Valley IPA, which is built around Columbus, and is Bahl Hornin' (Bootling...
