    Barley Crusher Hell

Hatchy, I wouldn't wet the grain, just make sure the rollers are brushed clean after each use, build up occurs making it less effective. Use your drill on a slow speed it will make a better crush and as I said earlier in this thread you can try two crushes adjusting the gap width each time...

    RecipeDB - HopJuice 10 Min Rye-PA

I wouldn't bother withn the 350g Vienna it will have little significant malt impact in this beer, personally I would bump up the munich to at least 500-750g and definitely increase the rye to 20%. Just my thoughts....love the rye :icon_drool2: Cheers, BB

    Natural Carbonation V's Fprced

Absolute. I only bottle and have been using a 1 micron filter for several years now, it just takes a little longer to carb up and I imagine for your purposes it would be similar. Cheers, BB

    Natural Carbonation V's Fprced

A 1 micron filter, will give you a clear beer and still allow enough yeast for carbonation. Cheers, BB

    Stammtisch Challenge - Autumn 2011

I really like this concept, I may even be tempted to brew for this one. BB

    Barley Crusher Hell

Gout I had the same problem and fixed it only by doing firstly what MHB suggested and clean the rollers, then as Tidal pete said only add enough grain initially to cover the rollers just to check that the idle roller is turning. Lastly and its a pain, but I have resigned myself to do 2 crushes...

    Italian Spiral Burner

G'day Murcluf, I now use NG, but previously had a Nasa (Turkey burner), then got the Italian spiral burner with a med pressure regulator and it was awesome! Never had it on full :o and it was much quieter than the nasa. It would do 50L in an idle yawn. Cheers, BB

Getting Rid Of Dry Hop Floaties

I use to use (and still do occasionally) a small piece removed from a SS scrubby and wedged inside a racking hose... works fine. Cheers, BB

    Good Mash Tun Cooler

Are you going to batch or fly sparge? I remember years ago before buying my current willow rectangular 55L esky that I used the bucket in bucket method and the stirring in a cylindrical design was a PITA, no such issue with a rectangular cooler too easy. Cheers, BB

    Cpa Yeast

Stef At worst using frozen PET bottles (1-2L size) you would be changing them every 24 hours given that the temp will be climbing over 30C here in adelaide. On days of 20-25C I change them every 36 hours. BB

    Cpa Yeast

Stef, Just freeze some 1 or 2L bottles of water and use your fridge until you get it set up, its what I do all the time. I have a Coopers yeast I have just put in the fridge this morning ready to do an Aussie Mild ale tomorrow and thats what I'll be doing and 16C which is the temp I always use...

    Topaz

Having just tried it - definite grapefruit flavours going on there, its dominant but not in any unpleasant way, a nice aroma as well. Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised, IMHO it would combine well with many other fruity citrusy hop varieties. Cheers, BB

What's The Hop Flavour In Corona And Heineken - I Dont Like It

Exactly what my initial response was! :D Heineken isn't exactly awash in hops either, I reckon its something else you are tasting there or not tasting??? Whichever way I agree I dont care for either of them. BB

    Topaz

Bottled a topaz ale recently, never used it before. It is - 71.5% Ale malt 15.2% Munich II 5.1% Med Crystal 8.2% Wheat Malt 10g Topaz at 30,20,10 min & flame out to 32 IBu inc 15g dry hop. With a 2112 Cal Lager yeast. Got a one chilling in the fridge at the moment (all be it...

    Boston Cream

G'day dalpets, If its a partial kit supplied from Grumpys with "cracked grain" it would have to be quite old now and therefore the grain would be just about useless. I'd be looking to be replacing that and maybe the hops as well depending on how they have been stored. I'd seriously look at...

Wyeast Smack Pack, Longest Time To Swell

    Filtering And Bottle Carbonating

I have been using a 1 micron filter for over 3 years and only bottle, there is no yeast issue it just takes a little longer to carb up...about 4 weeks usually, sometimes longer if the weather is cold. Cheers, BB

    Why Don't You Like Amarillo?

I do like Amarillo, but not on it's own, its all fruit to me and needs other hop flavours to balance it IMHO. Simcoe, cascade & Amarillo are all good mates and work well together. Cheers, BB

What Is The Difference Between Por And Super Alpha?

Super Alpha would have to be one of the cleanest bittering hops I have used, really impressed with the lagers I have used it in, infact my next brew will be a lager with Super Alpha for bittering and finished with Riwaka (Saaz D) I've been hanging out to make this again. Very happy with Super...
