Starting an Electric Brew control panel for AG brewing

Hi R U sure they are the correct Relay's? Those ones are 28vdc coils whereas the items on ElectricBrewery.com state to use 240vdc coil. I'm in the process of ordering so please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Starting an Electric Brew control panel for AG brewing

WoW sjp770 That's fecking choice. Do tell where to buy etc. Is that jacketed with glycol cooling or just a insulating cover. I wouldn't have room in a fermenting fridge for this. That's why jacket is a must. Just found them. Unfortunately they don't do a 16 Gallon(60litre) FTS system but it...

Starting an Electric Brew control panel for AG brewing

That fermenter is so blinging sweet. I want one but it has to be jacketed and I would have to sell the mother in law to buy it. How much was that conical?

    Water filter storage and maintenance

Buy a whole house filtration unit. About $400 and have nice water for your entire house and no nasties to drink or bath in. I know Eastern States have had problems with Giardia and Crytpsoridium a while back. Filtration makes sense, especially if you do some research into town water supplies...

Bench Water Filter Replacement + Water Level

If you want to search for good quality filters and filter systems, then check out psi filters. They are in Tassy and I am yet to find anywhere that can beat not only his knowledge, but his prices too. I have my entire house filtered via 2 x 24 inch cartridges. One sediment and one carbon block...

US-05: Anyone else having issues recently?

I very much doubt it's the Proxitane. I've been using this for years and IMO, it's the best stuff out their. I have never had a problem with it. I've used many dried and liquid yeasts including starters.

How do you use your Counter Flow Chiller (CFC) ?

Flameout Plate chiller sterilised from pumping hot wort back to boiler -15 min with pump still going I now turn on cold water Keep whirlpooling until temp gets to around 30 Deg C in boiler Temp gauge on Plate chiller outlet monitored until I can easily pump 22-24 Deg C to fermenter Temp gauge on...

Recipe Formulation - How Do You Do It?

Well I'm like a couple of the others in that I tend to reverse engineer a beer. I like to start with the hop characteristics I want (using a hop wheel helps)so I assemble hops first to get my flavours, smells etc Then depending if I want the hop notes more prominent or the bitterness, I will...

Rhizomes - am I too late; any available?

Was keen to get some Horizon and Centennial but to no avail. Be keen to find out from you as to whether you get many flowers or plugs in. This is my preference. Order placed.

temp probe outside or in fermenter?

If you use yeast slants, you can clean one out drill small hole in top lid. Then fill slant with water and replace cap with your probe poking through it into the water and afix to side of fermenter with tape. This insures you dont get fridge turning on frequently and possibly damaging fridge and...

Herms coil vs immersion chiller where to use my 18m

Hi I would use the coil in your herms and just buy a plate chiller. I've done both ways and the plate chiller works great. I pump hot wort through the plate chiller and whirlpool back into the boiler to bring temp down quickly, then flick the tap over to the fermenter and i usually get around 20...

Dano's All Grain Feral Hop Hog Clone

Sounds like a rip snorter. Getting all those hops might be a trick for me. I have spoken to Brendan Varis from Feral Brewing and he did mention he uses Whitelabs yeasts. I love Hoegaarden but his Feral White using the whitelabs just didn't do it for me. Wyeast imo is better in it's...

NPT vs BSP thread type in a new set-up

hey mate No dark magic just some advice from my experience the the oil and gas/ mining industry. I wanted to share so mistakes can be avoided. Bspp threads should always be sealed with the dowdy, o-ring or washer. A dowdy seal is a metal washer with a rubber insert to seal. This is used alot in...

NPT vs BSP thread type in a new set-up

I work with this stuff all the time and I can tell you now that bsp is a 55° whitworth thread and npt a 60° . The roots and crests are totally different on both and not good practice to try and match them. Silly in fact. Do it right and do it once. bsp is prevalent in Australia and npt is...

    My brew controller box

Thanks Pedleyr I do like the idea of the BCS462 controller and have seen control boxes with just a few switches. The switches were 3 ways, off, auto, manual so you can interupt a process if needed. I have a few spare computers I can use to link up but wifi enabled will allow me to do everything...

    My brew controller box

I am impressed with everyones effort in building their own control boxes. I too have a basic pid controlled HLT with a HERMS setup. It seems some people have spent considerable money on their controllers and I was wondering whether it would of been worthwhile buying a BCS-462 control module as...

Joe White Pilsner Vs Weyermann Pilsner

You tend to get a better efficiency out of the Wyermann Malts than Joe Whites. IMO, Wyermann have a better grain/malting process which see's a high level of Starches able to be converted to sugars. If you like JW, and that's fine, experiment with it to find out just how much extra you will have...

    Kegging Setups

Those threads look a little tatty. Make sure you clean both the female and male threads with a thread file/needle file/emery paper to take away any rough edges and gauling. Otherwise it will bind up again. Two winds of teflon tape helps a little for ease of removal later if needed. nice work.
