Using 8g CO2 soda bulbs in your Tap King

Hi Nala, -The extra white washer is on my to do list. No quick fix just yet. -I used my rig without the top cover for some time but have since drilled a hole in the top of it. I now just turn a DIY knob to adjust the serving/carbonating pressure. -As far as I can tell the chamfer should not...

QldKev's New Biab With Internal Rims

Sorry Kev, My back's still hurting and I'm still high on pain killers and beer. I'll start my own thread soon. -I have not drilled more holes in the base yet. I will before my next brew. -No, I don't use the old false bottom now but that only changed last weekend. I'm much happier with the new...

QldKev's New Biab With Internal Rims

Hi Nala, I'll get into the garage tomorrow and answer a few of your questions without clogging up this thread. I pinched a nerve in my back on Friday and worked today. High as all get out on pain killers and beer right now.

QldKev's New Biab With Internal Rims

Hi QK, Your results inspired me to totally overhaul my system on Sunday morning. I do a reverse flow up through the mash on my "pod" type of MT, but it's followed by a mash out sparging in the usual configuration. I was struggling to get the flow quick enough. Now I know I can just drill a...

    Easy water filter

I have a major water filter at home for my reef system top up water. The difference is best viewed after filling up two new white buckets and looking at them side by side. It is unmistakable by eye but hard to determine by taste once you get past the first RO membrane. For replacing evaporated...

    Aldi Stirling 150L Keezer

Great deal on those freezers. You might want to be careful drilling any holes in them though. R600a is the flammable type of refrigerant although I suppose that just adds to the level of excitement. Any fridge mechanics out there with an opinion on these? I can't seem to find any hint on the...

Lion introduces "Tap King" - party keg / growlers

That's quite funny! At first I thought it was a silly question. Then I realised that the plastic plates don't just sit there like that normally without screws to hold the springs down. That is one seriously F'ed TK bottle head unit.

Lion introduces "Tap King" - party keg / growlers

Liss, Mosa. They are the same thing from different companies. Just go to your local hospitality store and make some mods to use the standard 8g bulbs. Why bother dealing with Ezychargers? Duck Fat!

The blue bit is a non return valve for the gas. The unit may still work in your situation.

Lion introduces "Tap King" - party keg / growlers

Midas had the golden touch. We all have sexy fingers once in a while. Fingers crossed I'm good for now. I just filled a bottle with a pale wheat beer. It'll be interesting to see how a highly carbed beer goes. To force carb or to naturally carb?

Lion introduces "Tap King" - party keg / growlers

So it was good old sexy fingers and the boiling water in the end. ;) Glad you got that one sorted. A good warning post for others as well. Try a small allen key instead of the screwdriver. I can't remember the size I was using but it worked fine.

Lion introduces "Tap King" - party keg / growlers

You'd know about it if they were leaking by now. My naturally carbed bottles were hard as rocks after a day or two. I'm sure the leaking bottles are caused by incorrect reassembly. Maybe the valves are upside down or the neck o ring isn't seated fully. without seeing it in person it's hard to...

Using 8g CO2 soda bulbs in your Tap King

Turns out I'm partially sober now! Pics as promised. This is a shot of what happens to the little o ring on the yellow plastic part when you release the bottle with some Co2 left. The two o rings shown started out the same size. If you leave them they go back to normal in an hour or so. A...

Using 8g CO2 soda bulbs in your Tap King

Can you force carb using this method? Hell yeah! When I sober up I'll post up some photos of how it's done. For now, in short; -Fill TK bottle from FV. -Attach modified TK lid with 1x 8g bulb fitted. -Fit to TK unit and engage. -Turn bottle upside down and burp out air using the tap. -Cool...

Tap King Dismantling - Step By Step Guide

You need a video mate! The masses will struggle with those instructions. It's easy to pull apart but I see problems with the head unit going back in. Good idea for a thread.

    Pineapple beer

I had the same thing in Tokyo recently. I've got a photo of the bottle somewhere. If the rest of the beers available are anything to go by, I would imagine this pineapple beer has a whole lot more potential in the hands of a good brewer.

    Pimp My TapKing

Now you just need to drill a hole in the fridge for the gas line and slowly convince the missus that a 19l corny isn't much bigger than a TapKing.

    Pimp My TapKing

I think this is a very doable situation for most people who can't run a second fridge for kegs. That o ring your talking about only gets fried when you release the bottle under pressure AFAIK. It only takes a little pressure to make it jump out of the groove upon removal of the bottle. SNAP...

Using 8g CO2 soda bulbs in your Tap King

Not all stores sell them. There was a push to have them banned a while back to stop kids blowing stuff up with them. They generally keep them behind the counter from what I've heard. The local hospitality store was cheaper and easier for me.
