    Co2 Beer Emissions

As geeky as this sounds - I put together this spreadsheet last week to work this out, but in essence, you need to plant a gum tree to offset your CO2 emissions for every 200 brews at OG of 1.050... For those interested in the spreadsheet, just add in the number of brews you make per annum at...

    Byo 150 Clones

It's a collection of all the clone recipes BYO has published over the years, grouped by style. My take on it is that if you are a long-time subscriber to BYO, you will have all of these recipes scattered between the issues, so the only benefit would be having them all in one place (which would...

    Matilda Bay Crema And Duck

Some tasting notes also here. I contacted Brad Rogers about this to see how close the punt on style composition was and his words were "Your descriptions were spot on the money - great stuff". Wrt the coffee beans Brad said they get them in green, roast them, grind them up coarse, soak them in...

    Brew Kit Databases

Adjuncts are anything in beer that is not barley, hops, water or yeast (eg the following are adjuncts - wheat, the oatmeal in an oatmeal stout, the fruit in a lambic, the coriander in a wit) Pitch Temp is the temperature the yeast is pitched at. Pitch SG looks to me like what original gravity...

    Really Need Some Help

Now this is not meant to pull the piss, but an obvious question would be what sort of gas have you got? Is the bottle marked as Aligal CO2?

    Use Of Champagne Yeast

Ah. NOW you tell me. Well, I roused, warmed to 21-22C, then racked at 1.030 into 2 11L fermenters, added another fresh starter of 3787 to one, and rehydrated champagne yeast to the other. Not much action after 3 days with the champagne yeast, so added 3787 to that one too. Has been 5 days now...

    The Mallee Mash House

Have your sparge arm connected through a lid for the mash tun using silicone tube, so you can remove it when tipping. To make it height adjustable, just drill a snug fit or use a hose clamp on the silicone hose and slide it up or down through the lid. What sort of solenoids are you looking to use?

    Party Kegs

Deliberately hadn't done that... But looking at parts list: Esky - $300 (RRP, but called in favours from friend with camping store contacts to get it for $150) Kegs - $270 ($135 ea) Reg - $70 SodaStream bottle - $30 Tap shanks - $140 ($70 ea) JG fittings - $32 Disconnects - $48 ($12...

    Party Kegs

Not that I'm wanting to promote anything in a non-retail thread, but I got the flow restrictors (~33 each) and the 11L kegs (135 each as is) from Beertech in WA. Not cheap, but it's done now.

    Suitable Filter For Chillout

You can't piff a silky terrier!!! :P (back when Merrick and Rosso were funny...) The hop bag might be cool for the hops, but it doesn't stop cold break going into the plate chiller. I've been contemplating this also kirem, and the best option I can come up with are using a hop bag for the...

    Party Kegs

Ah - I see that CobraPlus is a new addition to CraftBrewer; but it's listed as 5mm ID, whereas the JG line is listed as 6mm ID. If you can confirm that it seals with the JG fittings, then expect an order very shortly

    Colonial Brewing Co. Margaret River

I was down in Margs over the weekend for a wedding and unexpectedly found myself with an hour or two free on Friday arvo, so headed down to Colonial. Cos I hadn't planned on being there, I hadn't called ahead, but Dean still made himself available for a very generous amount of time to talk to...

    Party Kegs

Tonydav - yep, it fits in the boot or in the back seat, but not much else, I must admit (old Range Rover, so full height in the back helps). Justin - no probs *to date*, but you have me concerned now... the esky doesn't have the height for the Sodastream bottle with reg on top to stand up, but...

    Party Kegs

Just finished putting this together on the weekend, and thought I'd share... It's a 120L esky, a couple of Micromatic taps on the front (cheers MAH), bunch of JG fittings, couple of JG flow restrictors, some barbed disconnects and a Sodastream bottle and reg. Only got 2 11L kegs at the moment...

    Use Of Champagne Yeast

Okey-doke, so after 16 days the 3787 has chewed it's way through just about all of the sugar in the dark belgian, and we've dropped from 1.110 to 1.033... I was planning to wait a couple more days till the gravity readings completely drop off, rack it to secondary and then finish it off with...

    Faq For Advanced Kit Brewing

DJR, that really doesn't help... :( If that's the case... you're actually saying that I'm dumber than I thought I was... maybe because I've lost those extra braincells, I've lost the cognitive capacity to recognise my diminshed braincell count... what a vicious bloody circle...

    Faq For Advanced Kit Brewing

Well, there you go. For years I've been understating my ABV and dividing by 7.38! Would explain where all of those extra braincells went
