I can not beleive folk are harvesting already! My poor little Cascade is still in its infancy. Isn't Feb/March supposed to be the harvesting season for hops in the southern hemisphere?

If you've got an element in there and a coil (e.g. in a HERMS) then that will contribute some volume, so if you calibrate the volume make sure you do it with the coil in the vessel. In which case you have to do it by adding 1L at a time, or 5L at a time if you want (ever so slightly) less accuracy.

Love this beer. I've attempted a clone of this twice but done it at 6%abv and with Galena as I couldn't get Columbus. Little OT but where are you guys getting columbus from? My LHBS doesn't have it, and also checked a few online stores like barleyman, and they dont have it either.

Yeah, the biggest point there is tying up your equipment for long periods at a time. Strange though, a guy at Brewmart in WA (Phil) recommended my mates do that with their new system that they're building, but that is probably because they're going 75L vessels and getting plastic fermenters for...

A lager won't be ready in time to match those other beers. You want it simple, I reckon a British Amber Ale but bump up the carbonation for spring/summer.

I transfer my wort from boil kettle (after chill) to fermenter via a 1 meter drop through the air so that there's plenty of contact with the air, and I let it foam and slosh at the bottom of the fermenter for additional aeration. Never had any off flavours from this method, and always have good...

Out of interest, what was your actual batch size?

I'm a fan of copper tubing as you get significantly better heat transfer. That can mean less tubing required for the same heat exchange (decreasing your pressure drop and increasing flow through your HEX).

Got my badge today, and they removed all the course content... Is / was there a way to archive the course material? I took some pretty shoddy notes which are grossly insufficient to refer back to.
