I heard the same thing from a different source yesterday (attributed as something a brewer friend heard from a Fermentis rep), but it's still all hearsay.

Because the SA system is simple. No machines, no coupons, no ********. You show up with bottles separated from cans, and they count/weight/eyeball it, write down a number, and send you over to the till to collect cash. Such a system doesn't provide many opportunities for corporate profiteering...

That's a reasonable approximation, but you must have messed up your original calculation: (1.050 - 1.001) = 0.049, 0.049 * 131.25 = 6.43%

I don't think any of the STC-1000's are actually DC models. My recollection is that they all have bridge rectifiers, and some have internal transformers while others don't. If I'm right (and I'm pretty sure I'm right) it will actually work on anything around 24V, AC or DC, and the polarity...

Doesn't happen for a lot of consumer electronics etc. Pretty normal for a TV or laptop to only net 10% for the retailer Apparently Kegland think that's the kind of business they have, although they have made noises about the pricing being unsustainable. They should probably fix that sooner...
