    Braumeister vs Grainfather vs Robobrew

Get a grainfather and stick a brauduino on it for automated control. Of course... I'm biased ;) I am serious though. Best of both worlds - automated control with good wort production. A few people have done it and I've only gotten good feedback. I suspect the robobrew would work just as...

    home made candy sugar

I was able to get a kilo from country brewer by calling and negotiating a price. It is super cheap in large quantities, but I'm sure they move it slowly, so ended up being around 13/kg from memory. Another forum member was working in the wine industry and offered to send me some - so ppl...

    Kaixin Pumps

Even if you could it wouldn't work. The pump works on centrifugal force to move the fluid from the center to the outside. Reversing the direction of the impeller would still cause the same action, but would reduce efficiecy as the outlet is designed for the fluid to exit in the opposite direction.

    What's your best mash efficiency?

Highest Mash efficiency using the Brauduino controller on a 1V recirc system has been as high as 93%, based on the calculations out of Beersmith. I usually expect/calculate for 89-91% unless I'm running very high gravity.

    website deals of the day

If you have a sinbo style one that doesn't need the channels - I got: http://www.thepackagingcentre.com.au/collections/sous-vide-commercial/products/vacuum-pouches-350mm-x-450mm-100um Which allows around 2kg of ribs. The large bag makes it way easier to get spiced ribs in and out cleanly. Seal...

    Kaixin Pumps

do it - great pump. not as much output as a march (don't have a chugger) but can handle hot wort like a champ and is reliable. Get the stainless head if they have it.

My tape had burned a hole in it where the heat strip bends down into the recessed screw holes at each end

    website deals of the day

dj - I got new ones for my sinbo style one off of aliexpress - undo 2 screws, replace the strip and the teflon tape and you are good to go. The issue may actually be that the teflon tape has been burned through in sections - so check that.

Where was the leak on the manifold and how did you fix it? A friend might be having the same problem.

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Buy thread

Hi croz, No news on malt pipes. I have plates, but difficult to order in the quantities required without pots to match them to. This hasn't been the front of mind at the moment as I've just changed jobs. Mardoo, Dual SSRs are looking promising, but no firm answers yet.

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Build/Advice/Question Thread

Yeah, the kit was designed to control two elements. I use one in the kettle for mashing and one over the side for the boil. The power draw of the elements doesn't matter. The SSRs and power sockets are rated to 20A or more by the manufacturers. @240v that allows 4800w per circuit. note: you need...
