    Demand Valve For Beer Engine

I use a similar Norgren regulator as well. The gauge is 0-100 Kpa and I set it to 25 KPa with the kegs at 10C. Gives the right carbonation level. When I first set up my beer engines around 9 years ago I had a cask breather but found it unsuitable in a homebrew situation. The cask breather would...

    The Art Of Chilling.

Takeaway food containers, the ones you get from Chinese restaurants, are good as well. They stack well in the freezer and are reusable as the ice block comes out easy.

Auber - Digital SSR Power Regulator for Wort Boiling Control (DSPR1)

A cheap arse PID controller in manual mode, via an SSR, will control your boil. If you don't want a temperature probe hooked up, put a 100 ohm or other value resistor across the temperature probe inputs. Not sure if all PID controllers are the same, but if they don't read a resistance across the...

Weird DME behavior in starter flask

I bought some DME from Grain and Grape, was branded Breiss Light Malt. Same thing, kept boiling over. Went back to the DME I had usually bought from my LHBS and the problem was gone. Ended up mixing 2/3 of the good DME with 1/3 of the Breiss, which didn't boil over, just to use it up. Another...

    Whats In The Glass

Black Sheep Ale Clone Haven't nailed it but it's close. To be truthful, I prefer the real thing but after a few tweaks I think mine will hold it's own. The real thing is more malty whereas mine is more hoppy.

    Worst equipment purchases

Beer filter. Used it a few times, found it a pain in the arse. It hasn't been used for about 4 years and just takes up room in the cupboard. If I want to make a beer crystal clear I use Gelatine.

WTB - Magnetic Pump - Brisbane

KK pumps work very well. Have had one on a single vessel brewery for around 18 months and have one on my 3V HERMS set up without any problems. I've also had a March pump for over 8 years without problems. For around $75 its pretty hard to beat the KK pumps.

    Corrosion and pitting STC probe

I wouldn't bother too much about a small amount of pitting on the end of the probe. Its a metal sheath only, the NTC10K is a small resistor inside of the sheath. If it hasn't corroded through it won't throw your temps out. Give it a clean with a green kitchen scourer to remove the corrosion. Its...
