Why did this element burn out?

No polarity sensitivity on that element.

    SS Brewbucket Dumbarse?

Re the pick up tube. Like everyone else, I had trouble getting the pick up tube into the valve with the two O rings on. The O rings looked to be slightly too big. Went to Enzed and got some different ones and they fit perfectly. Cost me 40 cents each. Re the O ring on the valve. My Brewbucket...

    Cry for help

No need to drink mega swill. Head to Longstocking Brewery at Oaklands. Rob is a very friendly fella and likes talking to homebrewers, and can offer plenty of helpful advice. Plus he makes very good beer.

    London Pubs (and Paris suggestions?)

The Dove, it backs on to the Thames, near Hammersmith bridge. It used to be a haunt of Michael Jackson (The Beer Hunter). It's a Fullers pub. Plenty of lovely real ale. One of the bars sits only three people.

    Rain Water Treatment For Drinking

Been on tank water for the last 23 years. No filter on the outlets and only a mesh strainer where the water comes into the tanks. When my daughter was younger, she's now 21, she was a shocker when it came to long showers. I'd tap on the door to let her know she'd been in long enough, usually...

    Caustic Cleaning The Brewery

It's not going to be exaclty a 3% concentration but you'll find it extremely effective. Sometimes I only use 20 grams per litre, still works fine. The 5 kg bucket cost me $15.

    Caustic Cleaning The Brewery

Was a typo, 30 grams per litre not 3.

    Caustic Cleaning The Brewery

I got the idea of a caustic clean from Tidal Pete. I use a 3% caustic solution once every 6 or so brews. Gets out a lot more gunk than just using PBW. I usually use 30 grams of powdered caustic to each litre of water and heat the water up to around 70C. Then pump it through the brewery for 30...

    Ballarat catchup?

The last weekend in February would suit me.

    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

Fullers Past Masters 1914 Strong X Sweet, rich and malty, weighing in at 7.3% ABV. Fullers London Pride and ESB, either in a bottle or keg, have a taste to them that I'm not keen on. The cask version of those beers doesn't have that taste and are much nicer. All of the Past Master series of...
