Monster Mill old 3 roller v 'new' 2 roller design

I've had a 2 roller Monster Mill for about 4 years. Never had any problems and it works perfectly.

C'mon Straya - you know you want one.

Not many cask ales spend any time in wood. The vast majority of casks have been SS for years.

G&G Over the side element burt out AGAIN

I've used two of the OTS elements from G&G in my kettle for 4 years, until recently replacing them with fixed elements. Worked perfectly and still do. At flameout I would take them out of the kettle and put them in a bucket of water. So much for having to cool them slowly as someone above...

    hello from east gippsland

The Bullant Brewery in Bruthen is a nice spot. The meals are very nice and the Kolsch is a good drop. My aunty lives in Paynesville, so after I visit her I head to Bruthen and have a couple of pints at Bullant. Next day we head to Pambula Beach.

    Spitroast

I've always fancied a spit roast myself, just couldn't find anyone up for it.

    Stainless hop spider

I bought the mesh on Ebay, from a bloke in QLD, it was 36 gauge, which I think means there is 36 wires per inch. It was about $30 delivered and was enough to make at least 3 or 4 hop holders.

    Stainless hop spider

I made one awhile ago from some SS mesh. For the ends I got hold of an old SS sauce pan and with a fine cutting disc on an angle grinder I cut two flanges from it. I then used two SS hose clamps to hold the SS mesh to the flanges. To join the SS mesh together I used some SS Bandit strip and then...

Just to whet appetites, here is a photo of my EIPA, based on Worthingtons White Shield, pulled freshly from the hand pump.

Won't be cold break if it only dropped to 95C.

    TLZ10 Temp controller issue w/ pt100

NTC is a negative temperature coefficient probe and a PTC is a positive temperature coefficient probe. An RTD or PT100 temperature probe will only work on devices that can accept that input. If you can't change the input parameters on the controller to accept an input from a PT100, it will not...

    We bought a pub :)

Was in Kyneton today so dropped into the Royal George for a coupe of pints. Nice country pub with an interesting tap list and a nice warm fire. Worth a stop.

EWL Hand Pump parts, anything local?

I stopped in at EWL in Keighly last time I was in the UK. Very helpful people they were. If you don't find anything local I'd give them a call and discuss what you need.

    adding lactose in brewmate

You can edit the fermentables section and add it yourself. The same with hops and yeast. If the ones you want aren't in the list, you add them and save.

    Counter pressure fillers on ebay

If you only want to fill bottles to take out with you and drink that day/night, this works well. Its a $3.95 KK picnic tap with some stiff beer line shoved up the spout, about a metre of 6mm tubing and a beer disconnect. Fill the bottles right up and cap on the foam. I use something similar when...

    Square fermentor idea/experiment.

Don't know why the second picture has gone sideways, might have made it easier to clean though.

    Square fermentor idea/experiment.

I made a small Burton Union set up when using 1469. Worked well. It was a PITA to clean though.

BrewCellar 23L Kegs - Any good?

I've had one for about 6 years. Never had a problem with it. It is a 23 litre jigger. By the way, nice goat in your avatar.

    Pub kpa vs home kpa

If the pub cellar or cool room is underground, like at a lot of older pubs, you have to overcome the height. If the keg is 5 metres below the serving point, that is another 50 KPa of pressure.
