    Best time for dry hopping

That hardly seems like sport if you've already tied the fish on before casting out!

    hydrometer vs refractometer

I bought a Milwaukee digital refractometer, have to say works brilliantly, free postage from the USA. It also calculates potential alcohol, which is really a complete waste of time as it assumes that you are fermenting wine so gives you a figure based on it's assumption of your final gravity. I...

    hydrometer vs refractometer

You say reading 13 or 14 post boil. Is this from the fermenter or a sample taken hot? You would need to cool that post boil reading for your refractometer, did you not have a hydrometer reading for OG? I'd go with the hydrometer reading corrected for temperature and making sure no bubbles on...

    Pump LPM

@Grok Quality cable tie will do it as well and if needed go round twice before zipping it up. Been using this on the recirc arm of the guten from day one.

    Whats with this website

If something looks too good to be true it normally is in my experience. You could challenge their offer and order 41 of them and get free delivery. If one worked it would be a bargain at $40.59. Then sell the rest or give them away. The feedback was variable though.

    Pump LPM

I use the pump in the Guten 70 which is probably similar to the Brewzilla 65, have no trouble with good whirlpool and forms a good cone. As @MHB says don't throttle your pump with narrow gauge tubes, flow is proportional to the 4th power of the radius. Which means if you can double the radius...

    Controlling Robobrew with Craftbeerpi

@gusterminator I'm not sure about craftbeerpi and brewfather, it was easy on the SmartPID. Have you seen this thread? https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/craftbeerpi-raspberry-pi-software.569497/ But I'd also look at this thread which is run by the maintainer of brewpi remix, you may have...

Die Hard with a Vengeance should entertain you for the mash and boil!

    Controlling Robobrew with Craftbeerpi

Well done, can the craftbeer pi control the pump? I've just converted my Guten 70 ( basically the same as brewzilla 65) with a SmartPID and it is accurate and trustworthy. I can dare to leave it alone and just wait for the brewfather alarms to go off for raising malt pipe etc.

    GUTEN

Brewed an IPA and a stout this weekend on the Guten 70. SmartPID controller working really well, very steady temp control and integrated with brewfather. Getting my numbers at last it's not a mad dash all day getting ready as I go. Had time to look out the window and have a beer.

Just wait for the Brewzilla 4.1 it'll be the business.

Heat belt failure at Kvieck brewing temperature

Been using my heat belt successfully. One third way up fermenter hardly needed to be used in the initial ferment as well insulated in the fridge and the yeast activity seems thermally positive.

    Electric brewery options

@Hangover68 That looks like a great vessel, hope you got it at a bargain price as well. Think I might start looking out for one of them as well.

    Electric brewery options

@djackal you can also pm me we can talk it through as well. Much better for your garage to manage the boil off door open or closed with a condenser, you don't want drippy walls.

    Electric brewery options

@djackal I just use the metal lid that came with the guten, didn't bother with a more domed type, seems to work okay. I got the parts from a farm/dairy supply shop, plenty of them here as they use a lot of triclamp stuff for dairy so I was able to go in and measure stuff just as a double check...

    Electric brewery options

I reckon you'll be happy room to expand off that choice if you want to. You can build a mark 10 if you want to later and you'll be pleased with that as well. It's homebrew not gearfest after all.

    Mould!

I've had a look at the bottle it " evapourates " what is this ? 30% proprietary ingredients are these details available in case of accidental consumption by a child or it gets in my beer. Surely if you get it in your beer it will dissolve into it? so it can't evaporate off then and you'd...

    CO2 Back up

@Vic THis for refilling sodastream from your 2.7 https://www.kegland.com.au/sodastream-cylinder-filling-adapter-filling-station-with-bleed-valve.html Watch the kegland youtube video for a howto. Either of the ones you have highlighted will allow you to connect a regulator to your sodastream...

    Mould!

But it does have an additive that makes it taste horrible which isn't as volatile as the alcohol so could be left on your surfaces, which could contaminate your beer.

    New brewer in Wollongong

@15BERG So use a corrector for the temperature such as Hydrometer Temperature Calculator | Brewer's Friend interestingly 1.026 at 27 comes out at 1.027. You should have fairly neutral water, if you have a pH meter that's worth checking on your tank water, you can put that figure into the water...
