    Pouring pressure

Thank you for the advice. I have decided to go with dual regulators. I bought a Keg King connector and a Mk 11 regulator. Any advice on what I should aim for on the two pressures I should use for ales and IPA's ?

    Pouring pressure

I have 4 kegs in my fridge which are conditioning naturally at 15 psi. I am happy with the beer conditioning but would like to be able to reduce the pressure for pouring from the keg on tap. Does any brewer use an ancillary pressure regulator to achieve this ? I am wondering if I could introduce...

SS mash tuns found on ebay - are they any good?

Very soon you will want to recirculate! Buy a cheap 40 litre pot, some insulation from Bunnings...a camping mat! Drill hole for tap, suggest s/s ball valve, a cheap Kaixin pump,a 12" false bottom. This will get you started without having to start again to upgrade...an inevitable process.

Illegal in WA to swap beer for services

I wouldn't worry about it,our chief of police can't catch cold. According to the Sunday Times he doesn't know how to tackle the rising crime rates ! He is on a bench warming exercise for the next 18 months after being given a new contract.

    Strike water volume

Over the past 10 years of brewing I have learned many things from experience, one of which is to eliminate where possible, variables. I now, as a matter of experience, mash in with a constant 20 litres of water, my grain bills fall within the 4.5 - 5.5kgs. Over the 10 years I have got good control...

    Brewers Friend Recipe Software

I purchased the full version just to see if it was better than what I have...Brewmate and Beersmith. I cannot see the use of the data base based on grain from all over the world. It would appear to me that they are trying to outdo Beersmith with this quite useless information. Brewmate is my...

    Malt pipe ideas.

No need for a boozooka or anything else,I have used a Big W pot and false bottom without overflow pipe or anything else. What I did was to make a return pipe with a T piece and a flow control tap. The return pipe fits between the outer pot and the inner malt pipe, regulate the flow going into the...

    Who Uses a Hop Sock/Bag

Free style for me when boiling. One of these for filtering into the keg after free style dry hopping. Never get even the smallest hop residue in the keg, just a small voille bag attached to the transfer tube from the fermenter.

Dedicated Herms Guide, Problems And Solution Thread

Pump is almost erelevent if you don't have the perculation/flow through the grain bed,you can only pump at the rate of the flow. My experience tells me that stuck mashes are mainly caused by pumping too fast and creating a compressed grain bed,no matter what size pump you have you will be...

Getting the most out of PID Control - Modelling HLT/1V, RIMS and HERMS

Brewed today with my revised PID parameters which you helped me with. Great success...held the mash temperature witnin 0.2 degrees of target 66,no overshoot at anytime, ramp time 1 degree /75 seconds. Decided to check the outflow wort temperature and suprisingly only 1.2 degrees lower that the...

    Bronce sparkler real ale machine

I happen to be 77 years old, lived in England for 68 years, you ask me where I've seen large barrels in cellars. The barrel size I am talking about took two draymen to offload the barrel and lower it into the pub cellar,I can also recall the brewery using horses to deliver beer to pubs...does...

Knurling on a Mashmaster Mini Mill

I must have the same problem...milled 5.950 kilos of grain this morning it took 1 hour 20 minutes. The mill is about 18 months old and I think that the knurling is worn out. Mill is powered my Ozito high torque drill on it's slowest speed. I mean to try double pass milling, can't be any worse. I...

    Bronce sparkler real ale machine

The reason that you see small casks on view is simply the fact that they are small compared to the large barrels in the cellar and are usually for what are called guest beers, guest beers are brewed by other breweries than the main brewer. To connect all these small barrels to a beer engine would...

    Keg King pump rating

Thank you for your explanation. Not being a master of fluid dynamics I mistakenly thought that the rating plate gave the two figures...head and flow rate at those two heights.

    keg and bottle cleaner

The pump is a Weipro 1000...230v/27W...1200 litres per hour @ 1.6 mtrs. I have run it with warm napisan, also with a bleach dilution of 10 mls of bleach to 6 litres of water, going strong for almost 3 years.
