    Whats In The Glass

Rye pale ale. I subbed the carabohemian for carahell on the next batch in order to lighten the colour.

    Gassy kegged beer

Update - I dropped the pressure to 6 psi and burped the keg. Beer is pouring okay now so I've bumped the pressure up to 12 psi (saison) and will test again this evening. Thanks all for thoughts and suggestions on this. FYI - Maybe the keg is haunted. I poured one cloudy beer, then one clear...

    Gassy kegged beer

Interesting - thanks for your input. The gauge indicates that there's still a fair amount of gas in it, but perhaps that's part of the same problem? The co2 cylinder feels reasonably heavy, however I haven't had to replace it in a couple of years (I haven't been doing much brewing) so...

    Gassy kegged beer

Aloha. The beer coming out of my keg is extremely foamy and I'm at a loss to explain why. Key points being: It was pouring okay up until a few days ago. The problem flared up after I replaced the main beer line today and thoroughly cleaned the perlick flow control tap. The cleaning was done...

    Esky repairs?

Update. I spoke to one manufacturer. Whilst they had a food grade silicon, they asked questions around the viscosity of the liquid and how much silicon would need to be in contact. In the end they confirmed that I could use their food grade silicon for my esky repairs. In case you can get...

    Esky repairs?

Thanks again all. Hopefully I'll get a chance to visit my local B&Q in the next couple of weeks (I'm in "sarf eas" London these days). TidalPete - Perhaps I could've left it as "I haven't done much brewing", however I had just brewed on a mates Braumeister (and what a dream that was). I am...

    Esky repairs?

Thanks guys. I look into these options.

    Esky repairs?

Hi team AHB, Someone (not me!) was rearranging the garage recently and dropped something heavy on my mash tun's ball valve. This then placed pressure on the inside of the esky and created a crack that radiated out a couple of inches from the pipe nipple. BTW - It's been so long since I've...

    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

[sharedmedia=gallery:images:7247] This is a pic from the rugby a few weeks ago (Harlequins vs Bath). I went for a Grand Slam which had a touch of caramel and a hint of citrus coming through. Nice enough on a cold day, but probably should've gone the Abbot Ale which generally has a bit more...

    Ebay, Gumtree and FB Marketplace

I would LOVE to adapt this Mig 25 flight control stick to fit my Perlick... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170960111812?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I guess that I have to stick with my F14 bullet tap handle for now.

    What Are You Brewing III

I couldn't not have the date 31/3/13 on my brew records so I planned a suitably big beer that could last through the years. I'm going through a "can't be arsed"/lazy phase at the moment so couldn't really be bothered aiming for anything more than a big beer with 1.100+ starting gravity and 100+...

Mosaic ale - suggestions for hopping schedule?

Hey kemosabe's, I don't have access to my brew software so I'm hoping that you guys can help me finalise the recipe for a mosaic ale. I've got the following grist for a ~22 litre batch (70% efficiency): 3 kg Maris Otter Pale 1 kg Munich TYPE I 1 kg Rye Malt 0.5 kg German CaraHell I've got...

    Beer Labels And Logos

I need to spend some more time understanding the "text to path" feature on Inkscape (I can't seem to specify where the text ends up), but I'm reasonably happy with the effort below.

    Hop Drops,flavoured Lollies

My sense of smell/taste isn't great, but I had an elderflower lolly the other day and the smell reminded me of an APA. I then stumbled upon an elderflower and lemon mineral water which reminded me of an APA without the maltiness. Nice.

    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

I was never that impressed with Shepherd Neames Spitfire, Bishops Finger and Master Brew, however I pushed past that and gave the following beers a try. I'm glad I did because I found both beers to be very nice. The IPA had lots of English hop character to match the 6.1% ABV. The...
