    What are you brewing 2022

I quite enjoy using different yeast/bacteria blends for mixed fermentation saisons/sours. The mix that I used for this brew came from a hombrewcon in the US dedicated to funky beers. Bootleg Biology collected a range of yeast/bacteria and released it with the warning that "No results can be...

Ideas for a new homebrewery garage

I had considered an option like this for my 50L BM. Do you have a photo of your setup? BTW - Do you manually lift your grain basket?

Ideas for a new homebrewery garage

I was planning to just wash outside, but it would be nice not to have to do it all under cover. I'll broach it with the builder. Thanks.

Ideas for a new homebrewery garage

Yep - I've been in the UK for 11 years. It's likely that there'll be insulation in the roof, but your post is a good reminder to check (and to check the ground). Thanks.

Ideas for a new homebrewery garage

Good points. Our water is fairly low pressure so perhaps I just add a hose tap to the same pipe that links to the spray washer (because I can't run both at once). The hose tap will then "power" the chilling coil I have a 30 litre urn for HLT.

Ideas for a new homebrewery garage

That's a good point. I suspect that I'm too late to have a more permanent solution left in place so I'll have to look at extractor/condensing options. Are you able to recommend a solution?

Ideas for a new homebrewery garage

Hi team AHB, I'm finally getting a dedicated brew-space at home and I wanted to check your thoughts on what I should be incorporating into the build. Key points: The internal space will be roughly 2m x 5m with outward opening French doors. The room will have running water and a drain. I'll...

What are you brewing - 2019?

Looks good! If you wanted to try a more modern bitter, you could swap the crystal for CaraAroma (prob 150g) and then use more modern English hops like Archer/Jester/etc.

Last minute brew day on the weekend. I need to test a new pale ale recipe with Cascade and Azacca, but then decided that a red Belgian ale would be more fun! Therefore I knocked out the following (which has a lovely red colour): OG1.060 (50 litres) 5kg Crisp MO 5kg Wey Munich 1 1kg Wey Abbey...

What are you brewing in 2017 ?

It's a good point about saving the oak chunks for something more appropriate. I tried an old ale recently and the oak used in it really suited the beer so I might have to add it to the "to brew" list. In regards to the smoked red malt, I have to admit to cheating as I bought it smoked. It's...

    Beer/brewery Names

I stumbled across this post the other day and am happy to report that Tankleys is now a proper British brewery! Having moved to Pomgolia in 2010, we launched commercially in January. Our pilot 40 litre cask of 4.5% Golden Ale sold out in 40 minutes. It's taken a while to brew a larger...

    Gluten free

I've received the following information on this enzyme. Not sure of availability in Aus and if you can buy smaller quantities... Brewers Clarex is an sparingly used enzyme, you would need between 2 and 3g per 100 Litres. It is added at the start of the fermentation in order to do its’ work...
